Summary

Foxxxy Rule Number One: Never fall for a client.

Christian Webber is femme, fabulous, and an absolute freaking mess. Although he loves his chaotic life, his cherished friends, and his job dancing and escorting at the exclusive Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club, he’s also 29, single, and facing down the very real possibility of turning into a lonely, old cat lady. But an encounter with a client’s jaded son may change everything.

Gordon van Dierman has his life figured out. He owns a business, a house, and a dog with his partner of seven years, but when he learns of his partner’s infidelity, the grumpy Dutchman abandons everything he’s built and returns to his childhood home in America to lick his wounds in peace. But a run-in with a feisty, gender-fluid escort may be just what the doctor ordered.

When Chrissy and Gordon’s lives collide, it’s hate at first sight, to be sure, but the fire between them may be more than simple loathing. You know what they say: Love and hate are horns on the same goat - or however that expression goes.

Chrissy knows better than to fall for a client. But the rules don’t say anything about a client’s son, do they?

This made me happy

Sometimes you need a funny, sexy story with low angst. This is that. Also, the voices are amazing and very fitting to the characters. Will listen again.

Enjoyable w/great narration

This was an enjoyable listen. I was blown away with John York’s range in voices. Christian’s accent alone was impressive. The characters were multidimensional and easy to like. I wanted to throttle Gordon a time or two, but Christian handled him beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between the two as well as the obvious chemistry.

This story was well written and kept me entertained the whole way through. I would definitely listen to/read more from this author.

Really enjoyed the story, very good narration!

I want Chrissy as a BFF - he is a fab, take-no-prisoners, 'tell you like it is' kind of person. He is a great character! Gordon - a bit judgmental, also opinionated and taken down a peg or five by Chrissy 😀 They made a good match as enemies and later on. The characters were well portrayed, even the secondary ones and let's not forget Chrissy's demon cat _ he was hilarious!
Good story, memorable characters, humour, snark, fabulousness - what's not to love?
The narration made this a great way to experience the story - John York's voice for Chrissy pretty much made the book for me, and i enjoyed the way he seamlessly flowed from one chacter voice to another,
Definitely recommend both story and narration!

Unexpectedly light

Gordon and Chrissy are wonderful characters and this book isn't what I expected. Somehow, I expected things to be much darker with a lot more angst, but it wasn't that at all. These two have immediate chemistry but as this is a take on the enemies to lovers trope they fight it, or at least deepening their relationship, all the way. The complication with Gordon's father was an interesting touch. I look forward to more in this series. John York gave a great performance that brought all the characters to life.

Great Start to a new series

I really enjoyed the snark and banter between Chrissy and Gordon.
Lits of hilarious, laugh out loud moments along with just the right amount of drama, angst and tenderness.
John York did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.

Enemies to lovers in a unique way

This book as a cute meet-cute. Chrissy is an exotic dancer who does some escort work on the side. But many of those jobs are simply providing company for lonely men. One such man is an older Dutch man whose children have, for the most part, abandoned him. He came out as gay after their mother passed and they have not been understanding. Well, his son Gordon has been – sort of – but living in Holland, he hasn’t been around much. He’s back in Boston and staying with his dad while working to mend a broken heart. Then Chrissy shows up, and he’s certain this man is taking advantage of his father.

In truth, Chrissy is providing and wonderful service and doing something virtually no one else can. As gender fluid, Chrissy often chooses between dressing as a man or, on special days, dressing like a woman. He’s lithe and lovely, and Gordon is interested. If he can get past the whole escort thing. The hate on sight turns to eventual friendship and then more. I liked how the relationship developed.

I also LOVED Chrissy. Irreverent, he says whatever is on his mind. “Holy Harvey Milk, is there a gay mafia?” he asks his boss. He also references tons of celebrities in a funny manner including Helen Hunt and Humphrey Bogart. He kept me on my toes and he kept me laughing. There are plenty of antics in this book.

And Mr. Jingles. The diffident Mr. Jingles. Chrissy’s cat who only likes Gordon who isn’t enamoured with cats. Yeah, been there, done that. Capricious and fickle creatures.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this book delighted. Made all the more special by John York. He did a decent Boston accent and carried the story well. This is the first book of the series and more are set up so I can’t wait.

So good!

I didn't expect to like this so much. I do love femme boys, specially with a grumpy counterpart and Nikole Knight did not disappoint. Christian is not whiney week and annoying that usually came paired with grumpies, he is sweet, funny and a little sassy. Gordon is just amazing, I'm in love with him and have no complaints. The story has a good pace and flow, easy to listen.
The narration is spot on and John York is a good fit for the story.

Fantastic Narration!

I really loved this book, so eagerly grabbed the audiobook when it came out. I have to say - the first time Christian spoke I was shocked! I knew the book was set in Boston, and that Chrissy is a Boston-native, but the full on Boston accent was a surprise to me, haha. Having said that, after my first initial shock wore off I couldn't stop laughing. Christian's attitude and way of speaking as well as the slang and phrasing he uses, matched the the think Boston accent used by the narrator were a hilarious combination. It really played up the humour in the story for me and I had several moments where I had to pause because I was giggling too hard. I equally loved the narration for Gordon, and felt the two MCs played off each other really well. The story is a sheer delight - it is hilarious, but also has a lot of heartfelt emotion. I loved Christian especially, and I can't wait to see several of the other members of FOXXXY find their partners. Great book, great narration!

So much fun

I had read the story before but John York’s narration made it so much more real. Just the difference in his tone and the one in my head brought this story up so many levels. I would gladly recommend this story. This is the first story I’ve read by this author. I received a copy from GRR and have to thank them for introducing me to this series. I got hooked by the blurb and am so happy I tried it. It is a fun story. Made me laugh quite a few times. Christian is twenty-nine, single and afraid of relationships. He is totally happy with who he is, which is a bit startling for some people. He is also an exotic dancer plus at The Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club. When is faced with a client’s son, things get turned upside down for him.

Gordan is the son who turns Chrissy’s world on end. He is trying to put his life back together after leaving his cheating boyfriend. He has not been faced with anyone quite like Chrissy. There are just so many issues between these characters. Chrissy has attitude. Gordan has a somewhat stubborn personality. This story is just so fun when the chemistry between them is so hot. This has been one of those relaxing, fun stories for me. The story flow is good. The characters are likable and I didn’t find any parts I disliked. I will be looking for more in this series.

A nice and entertaining story by Nikole Knight. It was a fun and interesting ride with Christian and Gordon. John York did a fantastic job with the narration. A author to keep an eye open for.
