Summary
Enjoy another witty, emotional book in New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Erica Ridley's fan-favorite Dukes of War regency romance series!
Miss Katherine Ross is a wealthy, eccentric socialite who knows precisely what she wants. No husband. No children. No candlelit tête-à-tête with the insufferably emotionless Duke of Ravenwood. She's convinced his heart is ice - until she touches that chiseled chest for herself. One lapse in judgment is all it takes to turn both their lives topsy-turvy.
The Duke of Ravenwood isn't cold and haughty, but a secret romantic who has always dreamt of marrying for love. Instead, he gets Miss Katherine Ross - a headstrong hoyden intent on unraveling his carefully ordered world. He doesn't know whether to kiss her or throttle her. Can they survive each other's company long enough to turn a compromise into love?

Loved the book and the narration..
So, a ridiculously stuffy duke finds himself compromised with a happy, look-at-everything-with a positive-attitude female he tells himself is not proper at all and doesn’t want to make her his duchess, even though he has to. I absolutely loved Kate’s attitude, and how she thought of Ravenwood and what the truth really was. He was shy, had his own garden and wrote poetry, and loved his friends and family deeply. The more Kate found out about Ravenwood the more she loved him.
There was some sweet desire in this book, plus the fear Kate had to overcome about getting pregnant and either her or her baby dying. It was a long while before they consummated their marriage, since the first night didn’t go so well.
This is my first book by this author, because so many reviewers made me think she wrote G-rated books. Well, she doesn’t! It’s not all that explicit but the sex is just so romantic, at least in this book. The desire may not come until they kiss but it was there. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Oh, and this is the 7th book in the series but I never felt lost for a second, no matter what past characters showed up.
Ravenwood and Kate were a wonderful couple. No angst, no misunderstandings, just a forced marriage that turned into a wonderful love. And I abso-tiv-ly loved Aunt Muriel.
As to the narrator: Wonderful! Her voices were awesome but her voice for Aunt Muriel was totally on the mark. She sounded loving, funny and old, just like she should have. Stevie Zimmerman is the reason I’ll listen to Erica Ridley again. The characters really come alive with her narration.

Really enjoyable fun sweet read/listen.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. I loved Katherine and Ravenwood together. They made a great match and were made for each other. The chemistry between these two was great.
The story line and plot was very good. The characters were written excellently and you couldn't help but love them. He was a bit stuffy but romantic and she was outspoken and spunky. She made a great accidental duchess!
Also, this was a 5 hour 20 minute book so it was not full of filler nonsense. YAY
As for the narration. Well, Stevie Zimmerman is hit or miss for me sometimes, but recently she has gotten much better with the men's voices and the reading. Also, it seems the background fuzzy noise is less. If you have listened to her narrations you know what I am talking about. Anyway, this was a hit on the narration front. Really enjoyed this listen.

Just what I needed
A switch to historical romance was just what I needed right now. And this book was great. Loved the story and the narration.
Just a note on what I assume is formatting or editing, some of the parts being read from the Dukes point of view had an odd sound to it, like it had a bit of an echo, or sounded far off. I couldn't quite place what it was, but it sounded different than the rest of the read.

Truely lovely book
Very quick and easy read. Loved the realisation both characters had that they had in fact fallen in love and that both wanted to do things for each other to make their lives easier. Also loved the caring and support shown for one another.
This story is written in the same vein as the other six in this series ... With a flow of words that describes each scene so that it conjures up a picture and puts one rights there, in the scene. That takes some talent!
In the audiobook version, Stevie Zimmerman has again shown her ability to help paint the picture.
Great teamwork for a truely lovely book and I am quite happy to recommend it.

I hate to see the series end
It was good to finally see the Duke find his HEA. He deserved it.
This was a good ending (?) to the series. I choked up a few times toward the end. And laughed at other times. Always a sign of a good story.
I liked the narration but, as with the previous books, the production could have been better. It was a bit tinny but I must have gotten used to it because it didn't bother me as much as the book went on.
I liked this series a lot.

Really loved this book
Any additional comments?
Katherine Ross has vowed to remain an unmarried, child-free spinster in order to follow her dreams. The Duke of Ravenwood is somewhat of a loner who wants to marry one day, but has his eye on no one in particular. When an innocent incident forces the pair to get married, they have to re-evaluate what they think they hold most dear as they find themselves falling in love with each other.
I really, really loved this book. I thought The Captain's Bluestocking Mistress was my favorite in the series, until I got my hands on this one. Kate and Ravenwood are both lovable, believable characters, and I found myself relating to each of them in different ways. I enjoyed the process they went through of marrying because they were forced to, to realizing they could potentially love each other, to being madly in love.
I received a free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another excellent read from this series.
One would ask how you can "accidentally " have a wife, but in the Regency period, a couple, caught alone, can be said to be compromised, and be forced, through public expectations, to marry.
Now, if you are a Duke, believe you have to uphold social rules, but hate mixing in social situations, seeking refuge in a storage area, isn't beyond belief.
On the other hand, if you are a Lady, holding an artistic event, it isn't beyond belief that you would not seek items in your storage area.
Okay, it's really what happens next, to this misguided couple, that makes this an interesting tale.

Slow start
This one feels like a slower start than the author’s other works, but you end of in the same place. It’s not really and enemies to lovers story, but close.
