Summary

Fifteen-year-old Harper J. Ellis lives in Juniper Hollow, a hotbed for paranormal activity. Here, the dead outnumber the living ten to one, and strange occurrences are a way of life. Most of the residents choose to ignore the odd quirks of the small Victorian town.

But not Harper.

She’s perfectly content to spend her days in the graveyard, reading paranormal romance books at the foot of a tombstone. Like many girls her age, she obsesses over boys. However, it’s her taste for all things strange and unusual that prompt her to start a club.

A pulse isn’t required, but a flair for ghoulish fun is. Care to join?

The Dead Boy's Club

This was a quirky and fun book with quite a few twists that are unexpected. The narrator was perfection. Harper J Ellis is a precocious 15 year old who loves to read, no lives to read, all things paranormal and lives in a town that celebrates Halloween and everything paranormal since it is so close to Salem. I normally would not even pick up a YA but I really enjoyed this one and will be recommending it to my granddaughters. Make sure to read/listen all the way to the end, it is extremely unexpected but definitely made me smile!

Nothing like what I expected.

This story was nothing that I expected it to be. I had the audacity to think I had it figured out. Nope. I imagined Volley cackling a wicked laugh as she penned this story and threw in a curveball to end all curveballs. Seriously, I thought I knew who was who and what was what. And I did have an inkling of the truth, but that ending. OMG that ending. Bravo Mrs. Volley!

Caitlin Kelly nailed it as the narrator! I love all of the unique voices she lent to this story.

I AM HOOKED ON AUDIO BOOKS

"'NOOOOOOOO....It can't be real...it just can't be!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!' I say as tears run down my face." -Jenny Bynum

First off, I must say that I don't listen to very many audio books because I usually can't concentrate to listen to someone else reading a story. Some books that I have listened to uses one monotonous tone and it's just the one narrator or maybe some have two narrators but don't change the tones of their voices when they read lines from other characters and this is what makes me lose interest in a story, but this narrator.....well, she blew it out of the park. She kept me craving to listen to more as she continued to read. I loved how she changed her voice for each individual character and she brought forth the humor within the book and made me laugh out loud!! I loved every single moment of this story too!!

I read this story when it was released to e-book and I felt all the emotions as the words floated off the pages and I caught myself laughing and crying!! Today as I listened to the entire story on audible, those same feelings came back to me as the narrator brought the words on each page to life....and oh were the feelers strong too!! I will admit that I was unable to turn this story off until I finished it because I want to hear more about Harper J. Ellis!! My boyfriend was also hooked and continued to listen with me!! And my boyfriend even shouted at the end that he couldn't believe that it ended the way it did as tears ran down my face...but to know what I am talking about and to understand my opening statement, you will have to either read the book or listen to this audio book for yourself!! Since listening to this story, I have decided that I am hooked on listening to audio books and because of this narrator, I will look for more books that are narrated by her!! This narrator is by far my favorite one!! This audio book is highly recommended by me and my boyfriend!!

fascinating, quirky and unexpected

I loved Harper and the world (town) Rue Volley has created here. Harper was adorable from her love of books to her tribe of friends. I was quickly pulled into this young adult tale. The tale took some surprising turns and I cannot wait for more.
Caitlin Kelly narrates and was the perfect choice for this story. From the voice of Harper to the tone and pacing she nailed it.

WOW! I am still in awe!

Holy guacamole! Wow! I am almost speechless! I did not see that coming. I am literally freaking out and my mind is absolutely blown.

Author Rue Volley is so talented and has completely outdone herself with this book. I jumped at the chance to listen to The Dead Boy's Club on audio since I love a good ghost story. OMG was I surprised to find that this book was so much more.

The main character, Harper, decided to start a book club. Not just any ordinary club, but a club for her and her friends to discuss their love of paranormal romance books. I could totally relate to this and it brought me back to my favorite series as a young adult and at the same time reminded me that the feelings I still have for my favorite characters is timeless, so reading the thoughts of a 15 year old after finishing her favorite series brought a warmth to my heart. *que the heart warming orchestra music*

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I have to tell you I listened to this book on audio AND I also read a physical copy. The narrator, Caitlin Kelly, was so amazing. She truly captured the spirit of Harper and made her so real for me, but I loved the story so much that just listening to it once just wasn't enough. So kick back and be prepared to have your world transported to Juniper Hollow. You won't regret it!
