Summary
When spymaster John Andrews receives word that plans are afoot to sell England's secrets to her enemies during the Ides of March ball at the Westerfield Estate, he is determined to bring an end to this treasonous game. Posing as a gentleman by the name of Lord Darlington to stake out the event, he is ready for anything as he mingles with the members of the ton... except falling for his prime suspect, the lovely wallflower Miss Eliza Hunt, in whose trunk the secret documents are soon found.
After new evidence leads him to believe Eliza may be innocent, John cannot wait to catch the traitors, clear her of all suspicion, and then ask for her hand. Though he fears he is not the sort of man worth having as a husband, he knows that if he wants Eliza as his own, he will need to face the demons of his past and lay claim to the title and the birthright he abandoned long ago.
Eliza knows Lord Darlington is not the gentleman he purports to be, but he is the first man to see beyond the birthmark on her face and treat her like a beautiful woman. She dreams of a life at his side - and in his bed - even once it becomes clear he stands ready to punish disobedience with firm chastisement applied to her bare bottom! As he draws her out of her shell and demands she let go of her self-doubt, her desire for him grows ever stronger. But can their love survive the shadowy designs of those who would do England harm?

Fabulous Spanking Historical!
In the Darlington Incident, Renee Rose and Elliot Daniels transport you back in time for a tale of intrigue, mystery, and romance. Renee writes about the Regency period as if she lived there. Her voice is so genuine that you often forget you are in 2014.
I loved how the heroine was not perfect (she has a birthmark on her face), yet the hero adores her anyway. I also enjoyed how Ms. Rose incorporates the Westerfields (from the Westerfield Affair) into the story. This is a sexy book that I would highly recommend to those who like spanking, punishments, and anal sex in their erotic romances.

Just ok
If you could sum up The Darlington Incident in three words, what would they be?
just ok, really
What other book might you compare The Darlington Incident to and why?
Any Harlequin romance
Any additional comments?
I suppose I should have read the review 1st. I'm not really into the "spanky" stuff so this was just ok for me.

Fantastic Regency Romance
Would you listen to The Darlington Incident again? Why?
Yes. it's a gripping story with a wonderful sexy, spanky romance throughout.
Who was your favorite character and why?
'Lord Darlington' the spymaster. He's charming yet roguish. He takes terrible liberties with the heroine, Eliza Hunt, but does so with sexy style and is utterly charming throughout.
Which character – as performed by Elliott Daniels – was your favorite?
Lord Darlington
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes - I listened to it over two or three sittings but would have happily listened to it all in one go.
Any additional comments?
This is an absolutely wonderful story. The third so far in the Westerfield series. I hope there are more to come.

A Delightful Caper
Would you consider the audio edition of The Darlington Incident to be better than the print version?
I think the print version was delightful in itself, but the audio version brought the story to life. This was the first time I listened to an audio book and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
What other book might you compare The Darlington Incident to and why?
I would compare The Darlington Incident to The Reddington Scandal or The Westerfield Affair because they are by the same author and all share the same world. But really, they all have a Jane Austen-like feel.
Which character – as performed by Elliott Daniels – was your favorite?
I enjoyed Elliott Daniels performance of Andrews the best.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I really did want to listen to this all at once!
Any additional comments?
This was an excellent book when I read it in print and I think it was only enhanced by having it in audio form. I think the author and the narrator are both very good at their jobs!
