About this listen

This novel is a must for anyone interested in WW2, code-breaking, or inspirational life stories.

A Polish student is drawn from his studies, as a result of a brilliance in mathematics, into the covert world of the Cypher Bureau. He is trained in code-breaking and working alone cracks the invincible Enigma code in 1932. When Poland is invaded in 1939, he has to flee Poland together with his colleagues in the Cypher Bureau.

The team adventures take them from Poland to Romania, to France, and to Algiers as the team attempt to continue their essential code-breaking work and keep ahead of the SS soldier trying to track them down. Bravely, the team decide to return to Occupied France to continue their work with disastrous consequences for some members of the team.
