Summary

Her soul mate is in danger.

When Arkimedes is kidnapped by the Dark Ones, Nava is forced to make a bargain with the devil. Sneaking into prison, she releases her archenemy Devon Black. Nava prays the life debt she places on Devon is enough to ensure his help.

Nothing is more shocking than when Nava finds her beloved again. Arkimedes has returned to his birthplace and has no memory of Nava and their lives together—or the past 11 years of his life.

Under the cover of a fake engagement, Nava must hide her soul mate bond, navigate the Copper Kingdom’s deadly court, and field off demon attacks in the nearby forest. Her plan is to trigger her soul mate’s memories and convince him to flee. But this new version of Arkimedes is cold, ruthless, and determined to solve the mystery of why he was abandoned as a child.

Yet the soul mate bond won’t be denied. Nava and Ark are drawn to each other, and her delicate web of secrets is threatening to unravel….

Better than the first book!

I really enjoy this series. The second installation feels like a decent departure from the first book but in a good way. I felt like the first book ended in such a way that I wasn't sure how the story would grow. However, this book starts up with a bang where we see Arc being kidnapped and his memory of the last eleven years erased. Nava has to team up with her enemy to find Arc and discover some pretty big secrets Arc hadn't been forthcoming about before. We learn a lot about Arc's background, his family and a juicy new prophecy! There's hauntings, a false engagement, shadow demons and of course new powers for Nava to grapple with. If you enjoyed the first book you will like this one more! However, there is less battling and fighting than the first book.

The magic system in this book is so unique. Nava is a bee-keeper which comes with its own set of powers and a destiny to boot. But her powers continue to grow and her bond with Arc is constantly changing.

The romance in this book is so heartbreakingly good. The memory wipe was such a fun addition however I wish there had been a little more teasing and tension between the three characters at the beginning. The author also graced us with some delicious spice which was tasteful and 🔥.

I cannot wait to read what comes next for these characters. The author left this book with a bit of a cliffhanger and a lot of unanswered questions. There's a ton of material and plotlines that the author has at their disposal that could really make this an epic series.

My biggest hangup was with the audio recording. The voice actor is very robotic and the inflections they used don't always match the scene. I think if this book had a better voice actor it could really come alive for the audience much better.
