Story
In this intriguing business novel, which illustrates state-of-the-art economic theory, Alex Rogo is a UniCo plant manager whose factory and marriage are failing. To revitalize the plant, he follows piecemeal advice from an elusive former college professor who teaches, for example, that reduction in the efficiency of some plant operations may make the entire operation more productive. Alex's attempts to find the path to profitability and to engage his employees in the struggle involve the listener; and thankfully the authors' economic models.

Story
A breakthrough solution is exposed when some unexpected events force Caroline and Paul, a married couple working for their family's retail business, to make a few small changes in the way things are done. A solution that propels the family's regional chain of stores into a very profitable, rapidly growing, international enterprise. If there is a hint of Jonah, from The Goal, reappearing in this novel, it is Henry, the soon-to-retire president and majority owner of the company who logically states that, "if you do not deal directly with the core problem, don't expect significant improvement."

Story
Developing and implementing a strategy is the central task of a leader. A good strategy is a specific and coherent response to - and approach for - overcoming the obstacles to progress. A good strategy works by harnessing and applying power where it will have the greatest effect. Yet, Rumelt shows that there has been a growing and unfortunate tendency to equate Mom-and-apple-pie values, fluffy packages of buzzwords, motivational slogans, and financial goals with “strategy”.

This book was amazing and changed my life.
- By Lora on 10-10-18
Summary
The Theory of Constraints (TOC) has been successfully applied in almost every area of human endeavor, from industry to healthcare to education. And while Eli Goldratt is indeed a scientist, an educator and a business leader, he is first and foremost a philosopher; some say a genius. He is a thinker who provokes others to do the same. Often characterized as unconventional, and always stimulating a slayer of sacred cows Dr. Goldratt exhorts his readers to examine and reassess their lives and business practices by cultivating a different perspective and a clear new vision. In his latest book, The Choice, Goldratt once again presents his thought provoking approach, this time through a conversation with his daughter Efrat, as he explains to her his fundamental system of beliefs.

Missing all the greatness of other Goldratt works.
This book is messing all the elements of the other Goldratt books that make them so wonderful. I'm very disappointed. I believe the information is valuable, but can't get into it as it just feels like a droning on of the information.

Simply, good
Business-wise there's not much new in this one of you've already read "isn't it obvious" and either "critical chain" or "it's not luck".
However, since the purpose of the book is life advice I'll still give it the highest score. I appreciate the simplicity arguments and Socratic discussion method.
The notes section at the end ties it up pretty well and summarizes the more important parts and turn them into achievable take-home-messages.
As a PhD in physics myself, my favorite part was the discussions on simplicity and how we tend to look for complicated solutions to complicated problems.

good content in general, but...
as usual, the concepts were really good. in this format however, it was very hard to not get annoyed by all the humble-bragging. despite of that, if you are a fan of this approach, like I am, you should read this book too.
