Story
Captain Blackheart leads a simple life of roving the seas, wenching and treasure-hunting. He steers clear of romantic entanglements that could tie him to land. He shouldn't have any trouble keeping his hands off the gently-bred lady he's commissioned to abduct - except his cargo turns out to be feisty and passionate! She'd be a prize worth treasuring, if having her aboard didn't jeopardize everything.

A little slower than the earlier four books
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed all the previous books in this series, but I feel like this one could have been better. It's probably more a matter of my personal preferences when it comes to my reading material. Spending the last half of the book reading about the tired hero and the tired heroine taking care of the baby twins they conceived the one and only time they did the deed, and Sarah's predictable rollercoaster-y "I'm so ugly, he probably won't want to touch me ever again" attitude, got old pretty fast. There was very little romance in this regency romance novel. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to the remaining two in the series - hopefully they'll be baby-free.
A free advance copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

I've loved her other books, but...
While this book was really unique in it's premise, I felt like the entire conflict could've been resolved if they'd just talked to each other. it got quite frustrating at some points.
I loved the "life" humor in the story and did find myself laughing out loud at several points. As her other characters, they're well developed and likeable.
The Narrator did an excellent job. I believe she's narrated Ms. Ridley's other books as well.

Cute but short
Another cute short book by Ridley. They are always pretty enjoyable. Here we get to see what happens when Sarah agrees to marry the Duke so her child will have a father. Not everything happens according to plan.
The audio production was a bit tinny but Stevie Zimmerman does a great job. Her voices are well done.

I am loving this series
Any additional comments?
Another delightful installment in the Dukes of War series. I was eagerly anticipating Sarah and Edmund's story. It was well worth the wait.I felt real sympathy for Sarah as a happy ever after for her didn't seem to be in the cards. Being unwed and pregnant, she was facing social ruin as well as the double blow of losing her beloved Edmund and the protection his name would have afforded her had they married before he left for war.She had to make some difficult decisions and she was lucky Edmund had good friends to look out for her.Fortunately, Edmund didn't perish as everyone had believed and he turned up in time to very dramatically and romantically stop the wedding and declare that he was going to marry her.Getting married was the easy bit though and only the beginning of their story. They missed out on the early days of leisurely courtship to be suddenly thrust into marriage and parenthood practically overnight. They have to find a way to get over their misgivings, guilt and insecurities in order to reconnect and find their way back to how it was between them before the war.Humorous and heartwarming, each installment of the series is consistent in its quality of writing, research and charm.I voluntarily received a review copy

Stop the Wedding - The Real Groom is Alive
Where does The Brigadier's Runaway Bride rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The audio is great and the story is well written.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the fact that even though he was left for dead - Edmund didn't hold it against his brother or friends. They felt guilty but he was able to put it behind him
Which scene was your favorite?
After the twins are born reading about how the exhausted parents try to deal with bath time. That is probably one of the funniest things I've read.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
After giving birth the first time they make love is a disaster. Sarah is self- conscience of the differences in her body and is worried that Edmund won't love her and her new body
Any additional comments?
This story goes into a lot of areas that usually don't come up in books include how exhausting it is to have not one but 2 babies and making love after the birth of a baby. These two people had made love and then don't see each other until almost the birth of their children. They have a lot of things to get over.

I prefer the author's other books in the series
If I wanted to hear about how much childbirth ruined your body I would pick something other than a romance novel. It felt like every 5 minutes the heroine was talking about it and I can only assume that's because all the action of the plot happened in the first few chapters.

Sweet addition to the series. From book 1 finding out what would become of sara held my interest. Who would rescue her from an uncertain future. The trials and tribulations of new parenthood and getting reacquainted with her lost love was a wonderful adventure. The new baby storues were so trye nomatter the era. Had to laugh at the baby in the bath scene.

Okay story and great narration..
This was good. Not great but entertaining. I did like Edmond and Sarah, a little, but I think her thoughts after the twins were born was a little much. I mean, she constantly thought about the fat and the mushy flesh that was her stomach. She could have thought of it once or twice but she must have thought about it 7 or 8 times. Good grief, when Erica Ridley puts a fat chick in her books she sure doesn’t want you to forget about it. Women readers who have had children already know all about that. Besides, her husband had just about come back from the dead from the war and she was worried about a little fat flesh? Ridiculous. I was more interested in Edmond than Sarah.
Explicit sex but no swearing.
As to the narration: Stevie Zimmerman is one of the best.
