Story
"She went home with someone else that night?" I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five - as if I'm her wingman - and take off with someone else. No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home, but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying. But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island.

Story
It was supposed to be an innocent night, celebrating my brother’s birthday. Nothing was supposed to go wrong. We’d vowed to be on our best behavior after all.... But it only took one rowdy night with my brothers to flip my world upside down. One unlucky encounter saddled us with a family curse and the promise of doomed relationships. I laughed it off immediately. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “A love curse. Ha!” Boy, was I wrong.

Want to know a secret? It's about that girl over there. Don’t look, but she’s the one in the power suit with the long, black hair and the serious expression. The one I’m about to go on a date with. Yeah, according to her, she “accidentally” donated an obscene amount of money to my charity - The Lineup - to win said date, but I found out the truth.

I got the dreaded phone call, the one every baseball player hopes and prays never comes. I was traded - yeah, that phone call - traded from my longtime team of over 10 years to not just any team...to my childhood rivals, the Chicago Rebels. I was completely and utterly screwed, right? Wrong. The trade was the least of my concerns. I met a girl, Natalie. She was perfect, but I swore I would never get involved with anyone during the season. It was too complicated. But can you believe I had zero restraint when it came to this girl?

The better captured me; she's who stole my heart and made me realize I couldn’t live without this woman. The worst of her took my breath away - kicked me when I was down and twisted me into a million knots. When I first met her, I thought she was someone I would never see again. The second time I ran into her, it was a random coincidence. The third? I didn’t know it at the time, but she was the girl I was going to marry. But life isn’t always perfect. You have to take the better and the worse - even if it means giving her up.

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom. Yes...a meddling mom - who's been trying to set me up all summer. Now, I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but when she makes it her relentless mission, the heinous act should be classified as a misdemeanor at least. Of course, my mom, the evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings, made her final stab at finding a girl for me days before I went back to college.

It started with one night out with the boys. She was the hot diner waitress putting herself through school. I was the rich, arrogant player everyone misjudges. On paper, we didn’t match. Yet all it took was one day. One single day to change her mind. She wasn’t planning to spend her day off with me. She wasn’t supposed to fall for my charm. But one day, one smile, turned into several nights of her calling out my name. I’m not the guy she should end up with. I’m jealous, possessive. Not here for a long time - just a good time. She’s changed me.

Breaking news: The bad boy of baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped. Okay, that might not be the headline in the newspaper this morning, but it's the reality of my current situation. It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She’d gotten a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, so I figured there wouldn't be any harm in having her stay at my place for a while. Ha! Total disaster.

As the most hated player in baseball, I had two options: either clean up my image, or pack my bags. Being traded wasn't an option which only meant one thing, I had to become compliant. That's how I found myself sharing a small bistro table with Kate Chapman, the Chicago Bobbies newest PR Manager. Devastatingly beautiful, vastly intelligent, and incredibly cunning, she knows exactly how to handle my grumpy demeanor. It was supposed to be simple. Book some PR events, show up, smile for the camera, and be done. But one massive mistake on my end sends me into the trenches with Kate.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Five hockey players, a cabin in the woods...and little old me, Winnie Berlin. Sounds like the start of a fantasy, right? But it's not. It's my reality. It all started when I got lost in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. A wicked thunderstorm sent my car mud sliding into a ditch, and for a girl whose survival skills involve finding the nearest Starbucks, I was in deep trouble. Forced to abandon my car in search of help, I stumbled upon a cabin in the middle of nowhere.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

To be or not so meant to be?

Summary
I'm single...so single it's painful.
Yup, ladies, Brig Knightly - that's me - is still a lonely bachelor, stumbling through the streets of Port Snow, looking for the girl he's supposed to end up with.
That is, I was until my brother, Rogan, presented me with the opportunity of a lifetime. The Summer of Love, a secret pen-pal program in Port Snow is looking for applicants, and I'm the perfect fit. I couldn't sign up fast enough. I found myself quickly falling in love with a pair of red lips at the bottom of a letter...just like in the movies.
Life could not have been better - until I started hanging out with Ruth Barber. After she started a new business right next to my shop, I found myself gravitating toward her - her smile, her humor...her tea sandwiches.
My attraction for Ruth came in full force, leaving me dazed, confused, and *ahem* excited.
As new feelings for two women come to a screeching halt, I have to figure out which one to choose. But when I discover my pen pal is Ruth, it might be too late.
All I want in life is to experience that swoony feeling...but I think I might have just missed my chance.

That Swoony Feeling
I was so looking forward to this book. I really enjoyed Brig’s character in all the other books.
This book I still really enjoyed him but I also really wanted to shake him….HARD lol.
Ruth is awesome, she really is a survivor and her spirit shines through I can’t believe it took Brig this long to see it.
Shout out to the town for being fantastic, that is all I am going to say on that. ;)
Loved the narration as well it was perfect for this book.

Brig…bless his heart
First…Connor Crais…swoon. I love his narration and his voice!! He captured Brig & his boisterous personality so well. Kelsey Navarro was awesome portraying Ruth & her frustrations.
Second…Brig…bless his bones. As his family so eloquently put it, he was a moron, ha. He was so blinded by his desire to fall in love that he looked straight past his best shot at love. Ruth was everything he could ever want, & he knew how amazing she was…he just never fathomed that that perfect girl could be exactly what he needed. Ruth was in love with Brig for a long time. A love that grew from admiration in high school, to watching the kind hearted man who came in for her coffee daily, to the man who had slowly become her best friend.
When a whole town wants two people to be together, their match is inevitable. Their whirlwind romance and poor Brig’s blindness to what was right in front of him made for a hilarious read. The hearts in Ruth’s eyes made for a little heartbreak when Brig had his moronic ways. But in the end…when the family & town got involved, these two found out they were perfect for each other & got their HEA

Lots of angst and banter.
I enjoyed That Swoony Feeling, Ruth was so first, strong and independent. Brig, for someone that couldn’t wait to find love he was clueless, I did enjoy reading/ listening to all the clues he missed. It was hysterical watching Brig trying to figure Ruthie out. I had a great time reading the book. Very good series.

Really like the series
I’ve truly enjoyed this series however I almost stopped listening to this one bc of Navarro’s narration. Every character, man or woman, has the end of their sentence breathed out. I got through it bc I don’t mind the other words she says but the last one. It’s so irritating. I’m sure she’s a great narrator on other books but just maybe someone could have her listen back and realize the tone she is ending every sentence. Other than that, she brought the characters to life.
The story was okay. I was hoping to have more out of this story bc it’s a cute set up with the letters and bc we all love Brigg from the other books and how much he loves love. Ruth is a great character.
I’m in it for the series; not necessarily one book over the other.

Man Child
Brigg has been the funniest and intense of the Knightly Brothers in this series, and I wasn't sure I would like this particular trope, but his total cluelessness and the family and town meddling in bringing Brigg and Ruth together just made me smile and want to hit him over the head laugh out loud. When they finally got together it was explosive and the shower scene I had to fan myself. This is one of those series that you will have to go back and listen to again and again. The Texts between all the siblings throughout the series are hilarious

Cute story but…
Could anyone with any intelligence truly be as clueless as brig?!?? It was a cute story though. I liked this series. I like Connor Crais, yet I wondered if it would be weird having him as a new narrator when the male narrator for all other books with someone else. But it was completely fine. He did a great job

How about acknowledging the elephant in the room
Does no one question how hes freaking writing a penpal that he has an interest in? And stupid Ruthie is holding this information against him because she knows who shes writing all while hitting on Brig in person. Can we say F'd up? While I absolutely adore this series and Griffin and Brig are my favorites, every single one of these men have been completely clueless when it comes to falling in love. Well Griffin and Rogan knew they were in love but fought it. Reid and Brig, not so much..... So Ruthie is playing emotional mind/heart games with Brig, how is it fair that she keeps leading him on, flirting with him and asking VERY personal things in these letters which keeps Brig's attention and interest going all while pulling the Jessica Rabbit in person. If she wanted his attention then she needs to quit the letters so that his mind and HEART could turn to her. This is the one part of the story that bothers me. I'm glad Brig got his HEA but I dont like how Meghan Quinn wrote her emotionally manipulating Brig to get it. Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. And if shes too scared to do it in person and clearly the hints arent working, well admit it in a letter then.
Then because HER lies/omissions he gets confused and conflicted but HE has to apologize for the way he reacted because of HER choices? EF that. That is seriously messed up. When girls, yes girls, act like this it makes me ashamed I'm a woman. And just like a typical girl Ruth helps bring about her own unhappiness but refuses to take any of the responsibility. And when Brig calls her out on it, her response is, don't make me acknowledge my part about lying and leading you on. Man I want to b****slap her. Shes so perfect (eyeroll)
But I would love to get a story for mom and pop Knightly, and also Oliver and Tracker ❤ (I think Tracker needs a woman to straighten him out)
The narrators did an excellent job. But I'm sad the series didnt finish out with the original narrators.
