Love the Narrators

This book was really great, it was was a book about forgiveness and so much more. We get back and forth from the past and present but it really worked to understand everything. I had read the other book in the series but I wouldn’t say you need to read them to get in to this story. This book was really heartbreaking in it one way because you felt his and her pain.

The narrator’s to this book did a great job and they really brought the book to life.

Had to make myself finish listening

I loved the Royals series and thought it would be great to hear Gideon and Sav’s story. I liked how Watt wrote the past and present. I despised the narration by Jennifer Aquino. It was like nails on a chalkboard. Shedlock should have done the whole novella. Never again please Erin Watt!!! She tarnished this audiobook.

Female narrator just didn’t work for me.

The book was juvenile but given the characters, not surprising. The female narrator just didn’t seem to recite the story well. I basically finished the book because it was a short listen on a drive rather than because the story caught me. I dislike when the story has plot twists that you have to decipher from the previous books…just either give a quick summary of what major incident is being referenced or move on. I know I won’t seek out the remaining books in the series.

Was the narrator not vetted?

I rarely write reviews, but this narrator is so hard to listen to, and I’m not exactly picky. Mispronounced names, choppy reading, monotonous…. There’s just so much going on. I don’t blame the narrator, I blame whomever let this get published this way.

Monotone

The novella itself is cute and works hard to fit a full story into a shortened text, but the female narrator almost ruins the whole thing. Her reading is choppy, like a computer translator, and the whole performance is monotone.

So disappointed

So I absolutely LOVE all the books in this series aside from this one. It’s so short and whoever is reading it needs to be replaced and the whole thing recorded again. The voices especially the main one for Sav was just awful. You made her sound like an 80 year old woman and ugh. I’m asking for a refund. I don’t even know I want to get the next book at this point.

Just My Opinion...

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these books thus far but this one rubs me the wrong way. I really didn't like much of anything about it besides Gideon and Savannah ending up back together. Maybe the best part was the truthfulness that bloomed into a make up that ended this novella. I just thought maybe we could do without this one or maybe make it longer with more detail. It left some things out and the dialogue was a bit cheesy and erratic. It was all over the place going back and fourth between 3 years ago and now which is fine but it jumps a bit too much for my taste. I definitely think I could have done without this and been fine with just knowing that Gideon finally came clean, told her, and got back together with her and they had their happily ever after. My satisfaction didn't necessarily require a half attempted 3.5. That being said, maybe someone else would like the little bit of sense made by the back and fourth cluster but I did not need it. Thankfully it was free so why not?
As far as the narrators go, I was not a fan of either one of them. I thought Aaron (Gideon) sounded perverted and old anytime he'd say anything. He dragged out the last syllable of each sentence and it was really weird. Jennifer (Savannah) sounded super childish and almost made me feel like I was listening to the banter of a group of 6 year old's instead of Sav and her friends. The whole vibe was thrown off by of these two. It was a very odd choice for Sav and Gid.

Everyone was right when they said…

This story was bad, the narration was bad and the story was no where as good as the other books in the royals series. Thank goodness it was free. What was a 4 hour and something book turned into an all day thing. I had to keep stopping to get a break and rewinding because the story was confusing if I tuned out for a few minutes.

female narrator is horrible.

the male narrator is great but I absolutely hated the female voice actor. high pitch baby voice and every other word is overly emphasized. took me longer to listen to this novella than the full length novels since I could only stand small doses. glad this was included in the unlimited. don't waste a credit for it. story line is ok just a bit of filler piece.

Second chance Royal romance

In Tarnished Crown we meet Savannah. Two years ago, Gideon and Savannah dated. Gideon made a mistake and he’s hoping to remedy that mistake.
I’ve only read book one in the Royals series, but I remember reading about Gideon who was away at college. This novella picks up around that same time frame.
This is a second chance hate to lovers college romance with a Royal. The entire premise is based on Gideon Royal trying to win Savannah back. But first Erin Watt is going to reflect back on how they met and what Gideon did to break Savannah’s heart.
Tarnished Crown had a few big reveals from book 1. I appreciated these spoilers since I didn’t read books 2 or 3. This is as far as my like for this book goes. It’s an uneventful read despite the spoilers.

Narrators:
Aaron Shedlock is the male narrator who performed the role of Gideon. I wasn’t that impressed with his performance. Then again he did the best he could given with what he had to work with. The dialogue was extra cheesy.
Jennifer Aquino is the female narrator who performed the role of Savannah. She was okay.
I listened at 1.9x speed using the audible app. This was an unabridged audiobook. This was a dual performance with each narrator performing there perspective roles.
