For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to centerstage Hollywood. From being unknown to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips. Love that says something, instead of just looking like it. Love you can always trust to feel like home. For both of them, it’s something that has always been just outside of their peripheral, something to be observed rather than experienced. A depth of feeling reserved for people who were “into” that, those with a different outlook, those more...deserving. Until their paths cross.

While many might think waitressing wasn't a great job, Laurel Chin loved it. She enjoyed meeting the customers and working side by side with her family in their small Jamaican-Chinese fusion restaurant on the edge of Birmingham's Chinatown. Like everyone else, she'd been astounded at first when the aliens appeared, but as they offered friendship and trade, she soon lost most interest in the news about them. If there was anything to worry about, she trusted Prime Minister Simms and Parliament would let the public know.

Summary
A perfect heartwarming romance from Hallmark Publishing
Althea Dailey has succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. So why doesn’t she feel more excited about it? She’s about to become the only woman - and the only Black person - to make partner at her prestigious law firm in New York City. When she has to travel South for a case, she pays a long-overdue visit back home to Milford, Georgia. To her surprise, a White man she’s never met has befriended her grandmother.
Jack Darwent wasn’t interested in the definition of success dictated by his father and Southern high society. His passion for cooking led him to his current project: a documentary and cookbook about authentic Southern food. Althea’s grandmother is famous for her cooking at the historically Black Milford College, especially the annual May feast meal. But Althea suspects Jack of trying to steal her grandmother’s recipes.
Although Althea and Jack don’t have the best first impressions of one another, they discover they have more in common than they’d guessed...and even as they learn about one another’s pasts, they both see glimmers of a better future.
This heartwarming romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe.

Sweet tea
Loved this romance story loved all the characters in this story. This was a well written story. Only thing that the author should have done was gives us an epilogue that would gave the reader the future of this couple instead of an unsure ending. Just because they were going on the road together unmarried and not even engage. leaves the reader with an unknown ending. An epilogue would gave the reader the satisfaction that couple got married had children and there dreams of the life they wanted happen. The ending the author gave left me disappointed because it leaves the two characters with an unknown future.

A bit disappointed
I was looking forward to this and just knew Iwould love it. Sadly, I could not relate to this story. I never connected with the characters or the storyline. At one point I thought about not finishing but pushed through anyway. If this is categorized as a romance, then the romance never took off as the MCs felt more like friends than love interests. There was no intimacy between the characters, either implied or clearly stated.
As for the narration, since the setting is in Georgia, it would have been better to have someone with an authentic southern accent narrate. It's irritating listening to someone not from the south try to portray a southern accent. The voices just come off forced and wrong. In addition, the narrator constantly mispronounced words that a true southern would know (i.e. Muscadine is pronounced like it's spelled, mus ca DINE not mus ca DEAN). I cringed every time she said it. I get I may be picky but I'm a Georgia girl born and raised and there are some things you just can't let go. The attempt at a male voice was no better. Maybe having a male and female duo would have made this more interesting, but only if they come with authentic accents.

Lovely story with strong characters and great food
Althea has been living the successful life in NYC, but heads home to Milford, GA while working on a case for the law firm in which she is the newest partner. A rich dude, Jack, has befriended her grandma, the grandma who raised her after her parents were killed in an accident. Jack cooks and is making a documentary of special dishes and the women who make them in the South. Althea doesn't trust Jack (who would) but comes around. Jack falls for Althea pretty fast, but he has the advantage of having heard about her from her very own grandma and possible other town citizens who know and love Althea. The growth of the characters happens at a believable pace, and the characters are likable, the town warm, and the food sounded amazing (and made me hungry). I'm looking forward to more stories set in modern Milford. This romance is what used to be called "sweet & tender."

Sweet Tea - Love it!
I truly enjoyed the book “Sweet Tea” by Piper G Huguely. It was not only a sweet story that stirred the emotions of missing my family and wishing that I had played a bigger part when I was younger but it was just a wonderful love story. A story about relationships! The author was great with touching the heart of people, no matter the sex, race and age. And it was a wonderful thing to read a book of a interracial couple that saw each other as more than objects. They have standards.I am going to invest in more of her books. Thank you for a joyful story read by a narrator that gave each character life!
