Summary
At 25, Princess Adrianne lives a life most people would envy. Beautiful and elegant, she spends her days dabbling in charities and her nights floating from one glamorous gala to the next. But her pampered-rich-girl pose is a ruse, a carefully calculated effort to hide a dangerous truth.
For 10 years Adrianne has lived for revenge. As a child, she could only watch the cruelty hidden behind the facade of her parents' fairy-tale marriage. Now she has the perfect plan to make her famous father pay. She will take possession of the one thing he values above all others - The Sun and the Moon, a fabled necklace beyond price.
Yet just as she is poised to take her vengeance, she meets a man who seems to divine her every secret. Clever, charming, and enigmatic, Philip Chamberlain has his own private reasons for getting close to Princess Adrianne. And only when it's too late will she see the hidden danger…as she finds herself up against two formidable men - one with the knowledge to take her freedom, the other with the power to take her life.

Not my type of book
This is chick-lit. The story is improbable. The characters are very much larger-than-life and the romantic scenes are ridiculous. When playing the male characters the reader spoke so slowly that I had to set playback at a faster speed for most of the book. I listened to it all, hence three stars. But I fell asleep for long sections and didn't bother rewinding.

Predictable... but soooo good!
Have you listened to any of Napoleon Ryan’s other performances? How does this one compare?
when I started listening I struggled a little with the delivery, but Napoleons voice just lures you in... and he is by far the best at ladies voices I have ever heard.
Any additional comments?
I have only recently found Nora Roberts books, but am so glad I did. I find them compelling listening... If you are looking for a satisfying twisty turny book, then look no further.

Nora Roberts delivers again
Kick-ass female meets smouldering male in classic Roberts fashion. This novel is total escapism and a compelling read. A fun combination of thriller and steamy romance.

A story that will want you wanting more
Any Nora Roberts book is a winner in my mind. This being a early one of here doesn't negate the fact I was gripped by a thrilling story with strong bold characters. Addy story makes you feel and want for her to get her sweet revenge and it is only compounded by her interactions with Philip . A very good read and highly recommend xx

Ruined a great book with awful AWFUL narration
This is my favourite book, I've read it so many times... but the narration just ruins it for me. I found myself falling asleep with with the smoothness of his voice and the fact he didnt make me gripped with the story.
He gave Princess Adrianne an arabic accent after living in the US 17 years (how odd!) and made Philip sound pompous and condescending. its the first time I've not fallen in love with these two characters. I felt little sympathy for any of the characters due to the way it was narrated.
I normally listen to a book in less then 24 hours... This one was so awfully narrated it took me a week! Napoleon Ryan ruined my favourite book!

An easy listen
What did you like most about Sweet Revenge: A Novel?
I liked the fact it was set over a variety of countries, the author's in depth descriptions of each setting enables you to imagine it clearly. Also, the characters were varied, which held my interest.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the inner strength of our herione and the fact that she isn't sickly sweet, she's had to take some knocks in life. Her fathers treatment of her and her mother, shaped her and helped her to see people for who they are and she treats them accordingly.
Have you listened to any of Napoleon Ryan’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No, I haven't. His voice is distinctive, very upperclass English and at first I worried it would perhaps be too much but he uses it well to differentiate between the characters. I would listen to another book he'd narrated.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I'd like to do this with all books, unfortunately it's not possible!
Any additional comments?
This was an easy and enjoyable listen, a good one for walking the dogs.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well performed and quite gripping. I will have to try some of her others.

Good story, narration could have been better!
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
It's a good time killer, and with a 90 min each way driving commute this killed the time nicely, however the narration was sickly and what drove me mad the most (warning SPOILER alert) is that the main character having been brought up in the USA from the age of 8 hadn't lost ANY of her strong Arabic accent in adulthood. Really???
Would you be willing to try another one of Napoleon Ryan’s performances?
Definately not based upon this performance
Could you see Sweet Revenge: A Novel being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
A movie yes. Phoebe - Julia Roberts or Angelena Joli. Adrianne - Emma Watson. Phillip - Benedict Cumberbatch

Not bad up to a point
It's not a bad storyline, and I enjoyed the book up to a point, however, the narration can make or break a book, and Phlip Chamberlain's James Bond accent and the cheesy romance scenes nearly drove me insane and completely detracted from what could have easily been a really good heist story.

Had potential, but lost it with the slushy stuff
Male lead was nauseating to listen too, I couldn't wait for this book to end. Sorry just not my cuppa
