Summary

Tim Ferriss is the author of The 4-Hour Workweek, a New York Times best seller that incorporates the Pareto Principle and Parkinson’s Law into a lifestyle of reduced working hours and more personal free time.

After graduating from Princeton University, where he earned a degree in East Asian studies, Tim started his first business selling nutritional supplements at the age 23. Since selling his business, he has become a Guinness Book of World Records holder in tango and a host of his own program on the History Channel.

The 4-Hour Workweek is Tim Ferriss’ first book. Detailing his personal experiences of success and failures in ‘lifestyle design", the book provides listeners with a clear road map on how to outsource mundane work and reduce clutter and information overload to create smooth income streams and more free time.

The author believes that pursuing dreams and goals now is more important than deferring them until after retirement, and his book promotes a variety of lifestyle design options that give listeners exciting alternatives to the ordinary nine-to-five routine.

The blueprint to success

Love it. The blueprint to success. Reaffirms some ideas I always wondered about and fills in the blanks for the thing I thought impossible!! That being said I am in the initial stages of finding my muse. Not a millionaire...yet!

contains a lot of information

This book was my first introduction to outsourcing - something that has allowed me to build a multi-million dollar ecommerce business from scratch. While I've never worked a four hour workweek (unless traveling), this book contains a lot of information people SHOULD know and can apply to their lives.

career change

The minimum you can take out of it is the idea that everything is possible if you really want it, if that can be called minimum! I recommend reading it to anyone who is looking for ideas either when contemplating a career change, or just feeling like stuck in life at a certain moment!

Don’t spend your money!

I’ve listened to dozens and dozens of recorded books with pleasure. This however was the worst narration and summation ever. A person would be better to buy the book, the revised edition, and simply read through the table of contents. In so doing you would glean a better summary and avoid the robotic, monotonous, droning of the narrator.

motivates you

This one is slightly different in it's approach, and as a tool to motivate you to get off your backside and do something, it's got it all there.

Applies to Very specific scenarios

Some of the concepts are great but the bulk of it is basically saying "find a way to work remotely and then outsource your work to other people"

disastrous narration

the narrator was terrible. he sounded machine like. I'm sure Siri could have done it better. will look for the same book from another narrator, that's how bad that was.

Narration is terrible.

I am two minutes into the book and am struggling to focus with the very poor and extremely robotic narration. I will get through it since I paid for it and look forward to the material, but yikes! I'll update my review of the content after I'm done.

Spectacularly disappointing

Narrators monotonous tone and incorrect emphasis on words distracted from the content entirely. Awful!
