Summary

Strike Point - Blackout

"If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." (James Madison)

There were many who said it would happen. No one listened.

Was it true that ISIS set off multiple EMPs across the United States, taking out the entire power grid? Or was that just a cover-up?

John and Laura Monroe are stuck on a train that has come to its final stop 150 miles from home. With no communications, and with strange storms taking over the skies, every decision they make could be the difference between life and death.

Strike Point - Caged

"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." (Abraham Lincoln)

The new world without power has been tough to navigate, but John and Laura continue to learn.

John longs to get back to his home in St. Louis, but there never seems to be an easy way to get there.

Until one day they are given a gift that will change the course of all their lives.

But will that change mean freedom or have John dangling at the end of a rope?

Strike Point - Adrift

"In the end we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends." (Martin Luther King Jr.)

Months after an EMP has taken down the grid, John and Laura work tirelessly to get back home.

But even their newfound comrades can't save them from the evil that awaits.

America has been infiltrated by a force that wants only to see the country burn and its citizens turned into slaves or worse.

Hard decisions have to be made, and the wrong ones could be fatal.

I wanted to like this book but.....

I really enjoy this genre but I'm afraid this book didn't impress me. I found the characters rather annoying to be honest. Then there was the repetition of themes, including a very stereotypical depiction of Islam which i found very simplistic.

Like watching a B Horror movie

I have listened to many books in this genre. So if you are new to this genre then I would recommend it. If you have listened to many then I would probably pass on this one. Everything the characters do is dumb. I guess that's how Hawk decided to present the book. It works for some audiences but for the veteran in this genre its just annoying.

A book with very real possibilities of happening.

I found this to be a really good book that honestly holds very real possibilities of happening in the end times as the word of God has warned us of things to come. The world is continually changing into a dark and sinister place where evil is having its fill.
Like the characters in this book many people in our world today have their heads buried in the sand and fail to see the larger picture from the events that have been and are still currently unfolding around us constantly. If people would only read the Word of God (King James Bible) and take the time to really look around them and see how relevant the signs of the time are that we are currently living in with man made pandemics causing world wide lock downs , import and export shortages and a idoit for a president who's soul purpose is to carryout the global elites evil plans that must happen for God's word to be fulfilled. Regardless of your status in this current world we live in the only truth that you can rely on is the truth of God's word and the salvation that only christ Jesus can give and if you don't truly know Jesus, then you should stop and take this very valuable time to get to know him and repent for your sins and place your faith in him and begin to prepare for these very types of scenarios as we are entering into the end times as God's word forewarned us would come to pass. Things mash not happen exactly how they play out in this book but they will surely be very similar scenarios I assure you mainly because God's word tells us so!
Thanks to the author of this book for a very real look at things that are very possible and are even more likely to happen in this world we live in . I also thank you for incorporating into your book the faith of Christians and the one true God. I would have like to have seen it maybe gone more in depth about a person's salvation and how they could receive salvation through Christ Jesus , nevertheless I'm appreciative that you chose to show a christen faith in this story.
I have to say that one of my favorite authors is Mark Goodwin and that is because he has scriptures at the beginning of almost every chapter that gives an idea from the word of God that will apply to what the characters will go through in that chapter and how God reassures us that he will be with us through those times and will often times make a way through those events or times that we often can't or are unable to see for ourselves because we tend to focus on the situation at hand rather than focusing on God for the solution to help us through it.

Thanks again for a really well written story and book. Choosing Kevin Pierce as your narrator was most definitely the best move you made as he is my most favorite narrator and about the only narrator of books that I'm willing to listen too.
I've tried a few other narrator's and been very disappointed in their inability to tell the book's story in the way that brings it alive the way Kevin Pierce does. Kevin Pierce has left some very huge shoes to fill for all other narrator's. I'll be surprised if I ever find another narrator to do for a book in the way that Kevin Pierce is able to do. He is truly blessed with a God given talent for narrating books!
Sincerely W.R.Freeman

weak

I made it half-way through hoping it would get better but it didn't. Great performance from Kevin Bur the story is just bad and not even remotely plausible.

Don’t bother

This is one of the only times that I wished that natural selection would end a book. The story started well, the main character showed common sense and realized that something was wrong. That ended as soon as they left the train, and never returned. The author should do a lot more research on firearms, hiking, farming, horses and boats before writing about them again.

Avoid this book

I am a huge fan of post apocalyptic fiction (PAF), but if you enjoy the genre avoid this book. The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because of Kevin Pierce an amazing narrator. I only finished the trilogy because I wanted to give an honest review.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

The character development is none existent, you do not feel invested in any character especially John (main character). He often thinks to him self "I love my wife and only want to keep her safe", while keeping the fact that they are walking into a dangerous situation from her. He avoids all warnings from everyone to enter the city and "get home" to a house he knows will most likely be destroyed. Even after he was captured and his wife beaten and raped he must get home. He chooses not return to safety of a well protected and functioning community. In later books he talks about Muslims treating women as property. But does not listen or even give a choice to his wife that wants to stay in a safe place she loves.

In many PAF people learn quickly, but John goes from a middle aged fat man to killer with his bare hands almost instantly. Supporting characters lack any sort of development and just fill gaps to get the group out of sticky situations. David goes from an average Sergeant (who gets saluted) to knowing how to kill with his bare hands when it fits the story.

The writing devolves into almost tin foil hat wearing conspiracies. At first it pokes fun at people that believe chem trails are real to preaching Muslim invasion. Most in the PAF realm have a bit of tin foil hat but this was over the top and very preachy. Half of the last book was just rehashing the belief that all Muslims will kill and rape at moments notice and need to be eradicated.

As usual a good read.

I enjoyed the read greatly as the author kept my attention completely, however they should have kicked John's ass for wanting to return to St. Louis.

Dumb man making dumb decisions

Kevin Pierce is brilliant as usual. The story is horrible. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. If not for the narrator I would have quit listening

Good story!

A few clinks in the story line, but a good description of an apocalypse scenerio in the United States.
