About this listen
A brand new CD audio editon of Agatha Christie’s classic thriller.
Features the recurring character Colonel Race from Death on the Nile, Cards on the Table and The Man in the Brown Suit.
Six people sit down to dinner at a table laid for seven. In front of the empty place is a sprig of rosemary – in solemn memory of Rosemary Barton who died at the same table exactly one year previously.
No one present on that fateful night would ever forget the woman’s face, contorted beyond recognition – or what they remembered about her astonishing life.

New York Times
“SPARKLING CYANIDE is the one … which I should take with me to a desert island; for I find in it a seriousness and a psychological insight unparalleled in the author’s other works.’ Times Literary Supplement

not to be confused with another story
there's a short story called YELLOW IRIS that has the same setup but different outcome.
they both have a woman dying by cyanide at a night club as the start but change directions after that.
it can feel confusing if you remember the wrong one. (Poirot is in the other one.)

Sparkling Agatha
Another clever, ingenious whodunit without Poirot or Marple. Christie also captures the ambience of the 1940s whilst poking fun at the detective genre, old values & sexism. Hugh Fraser's narration is great as always.

A gripping mystery
The book chapters did not correspond with the audio chapters, which is minor.
A good story. And I love Hugh Fraser. He is such a man of that time

usual Hugh Fraser brilliance
Always love Christie stories, perfectly complimanted by the wonderful Hugh Fraser narration. I only wish she had written even more to be brought to life by Mr Fraser.

Hugh Fraser,s narration
Story a little wordy, which slowed down the momentum and pace of this quite complex tale

My favorite Author
Great story, very nice interpretation, perfect combination. Hugh Fraser is great pick although there is no Poirot or Ms. Marple.

Loved it!
Please don’t ‘make’ people write something here! And 15 words too. I enjoyed the book - that’s enough!

A cracking story
all good except one thing - that the chapters being read don't match the chapters shown on screen. Makes it very inconvenient to follow.
