Summary

Winner: Utopia Con LGBTQ+ Book of the Year

"A romance novel meant for the masses. For all humans, for all readers, for all love." (Nicky F. Grant, award-winning author of Behind the Masks)

"EVERYONE needs to read this book! Riveting, electric, and poignant. Emma does not waste her words. Every sentence, every line of this story was magic." (Kate Stewart, USA Today best-selling author)

How long would you wait for love?

Max Kaufman was kicked out of his home as a teen, and his life has been an uphill battle ever since. From addiction and living on the streets, to recovery and putting himself through nursing school, he’s spent the last 10 years rebuilding his shattered sense of self. Now he’s taken a job as a private caretaker to Edward Marsh III, the president and CEO of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Max soon learns Marsh’s multibillion-dollar empire is a gold- and diamond-encrusted web of secrets and lies.

The longer Max works and lives with the Marsh family, the tighter the secrets tangle around him. And his heart - which he’s worked so hard to protect - falls straight into the hands of the distant, cold, and beautiful son of a dynasty....

Silas Marsh is set to inherit the family fortune, but his father is determined his heir be the “perfect” son. Before Silas can take over the company and end its shady business practices, he must prove himself worthy...and deny his true nature.

Silas must choose: stand up to his father by being true to himself and his undeniable feelings for Max or pretend to be someone he is not in order to inherit everything. Even if it means sacrificing a chance at happiness and real love.

Emma never disappoints

A love story for our time. Two people damaged so horribly by families who cannot or will not accept them as they are. This book follows the highs and lows of two people who meet and against all the odds put each other back together in a world that seems to be be on the fence about who should love who. The horrors they have both suffered because of the ignorance of the people who should love them no matter what is heartbreaking. I cannot recommend this book enough but will warn you, have a box of tissues ready.
The narrators are without exception perfect for the story and the passion they bring to the story is exceptional.

a heartwarming story

Love is an amazing feeling, but it’s the furthest thing from perfect. This is a beautiful story, with all the raw emotions, setbacks and challenges faced by two people who weren’t really prepared to trust love (and rightly so). My heart swelled, twisted and contracted as the main characters got to know each other and themselves.

Weird sound editing aside, the narrators interpretation is nothing shy of astonishing!!!! Will definitely listen again!!

I loved this audiobook!

I am so sorry that it took me so long to listen to this book. I loved it so much and really wish I hadn’t waited so long to listen to it.

It’s not often that listening to an audiobook will make me bawl like a baby but this one did and I loved every minute of it. There were so many hard things in this story that the two MCs had to deal with. The emotion that both audio performers injected into their voices just about did me in.

The blurb is excellent but deals mostly with the trauma that Max went through. I’m not going to spoil anything but I think the trauma that Silas was put through was at least as bad, if not worse. His story is the one that brought on the sobs.

I can’t say enough good things about this story and the excellent audio performances by Greg Tremblay and Zachary Johnson.

Love

I wish there were higher ratings. I’m not going to say anything else except please do yourself a kindness and listen to this book. The narrators were just perfect for this and the writer is now very much on my radar for future choices.

Disappointed

This one is definitely not as good as When You Come Back To Me, although is has a LOT of similarities. There is no character development and both mc's are not fleshed out. All drama comes from homophobic occurrences and at 75% I really started sighing with every repetition of the same memory of Alaska.

The audio was imperfect. Zachary Johnson apparently edited his own audio, because he tried to replace several sentences with new recordings wich were made in a different ambience. Both the ambience and the volume change shocked me out of the story. Second abomination was the sound of trafic in some of his recordings, and with one track he forgot the noice reduction.
