An amazing memoir
I found this memoir extremely touching and moving. The honesty that Ashley shows is so brave and helpful. I bought this book after listening to Ashley on a podcast and was not disappointed. Thank you. X

Brilliant and powerful memoir
Am blown away by her honesty and by her experience. The kindness when discussing her high school boyfriend; the authenticity while describing shitty yet funny events in her life; the details, the fear, the hope. It's an incredible memoir; and the interview following it is so generous and helpful in terms of the process of being published. Will be looking up more of her work.

Honesty can set us free
In the epilogue, the incredibly talented Ashley C.ford says that her goal is for others so see her in the pages and to connect with her in some way, and I truly do. This memoir, is so open raw and honest in the telling of the beauty and pain that is Family relationships and dynamics.
I heard about this book through the authors participation in my favorite podcast(We can do hard things), and fell in love with the strength of her voice and the courage & conviction of her words and this books content did not disappoint.
I recommend it for anyone, and as a white young woman from Gothenburg - Sweden we couldn't be more different on the surface, but at heart I feel we share a core value of wanting to be deeply loved and love, caring for our family bonds though they are complicated, and that creativity and art is the fuel that feeds and nurtures us. This memoir is really a love story to me, about a woman who has been able to accept and love herself as she is which takes too freaking long for the most of us, and it was truly freeing, exactly what is needed when the world around just crushes us a bit each day. It has warmed my heart and touched me deeply, which is a welcome relief in this scandinavian cold weather,

A true masterpiece
First book I have that reminds me of Maya Angelou's I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. And Ashley's performance is breathtaking! Highly recommend it.
