Had to stop reading...
...not because it was scary, but because of the constant, lurid references to sexual attraction. We get it, there is sexual tension. She's trying to ignore it. No need to oversell it - the audience is much more emotionally aware than the author seems to give credit for. I do like my books to have a human element, but this gets in the way of otherwise fine story telling. Love the dog, though!

mediocre
the narration was flat and one dimensionalast which made the characters the same so I could not really invest in them.
I also found the book predictable perhaps because I listened to it straight after when can run.
I won't try anymore in this series as I suspect they all follow the same pattern so the identity of the criminal will never be a surprise.

Good suspense but poor narration
A great story with a realistic romance, somewhat ruined by poor narration. The female voices of this narrator were really irritating - she made her voice rise too high to distinguish from the male voices and it sounded like the female characters were children.
I would happily read another book by this author, but would probably avoid if it had the same narrator.

Great story but could use less sex
Melinda Leigh is a spectacular story teller. I love how she weave a mystery. The only way she could improve the books is to take out the sex nonsense - I do not need to hear explicit details about other people’s sex.

Worst narrator ever!!
I could have enjoyed this book but they picked the wrong narrator. Books with only one narrator need narrator's who can mimic both male and female voices, which Elizabeth Pike could not do. I had a hard time figuring out who was talking to who and getting irritated because all the male voices were feminine. The story itself was ok although it was easy to figure out who the villain was.

Young Adult novel
I enjoyed the writing and the story overall. However, at times I wondered if I was reading an adult mystery or a young adult book written for hormonal teenagers. Seriously, enough is enough with huge biceps and tight asses.

An Ordinary Performance
The performance was a bit limiting. It was hard most of the time to differentiate the characters voices.

Wishing I lived in this town. Great characters!
I loved how this story is in the same town as the first book.
But we get to learn about different characters or meet new people in town. There's characters in this story from book one which I think pulls it all together. It seems like a real place.
Overall great read, loved the story. Getting book three today!
Side note: I wish I could live in this town with theses characters. Such great friends. Lol

Good mystery
I enjoyed the mystery very much, but felt the long sex scenes were gratuitous and unnecessary interruptions of the story. I may not read any more of her books.

So so narration
The storyline was good but at times the narration was not up to par. I debated whether or not to give the narration two stars or three. I did figure out who the watcher was almost as soon as the character was introduced but I still enjoyed the book.

Enjoyable
The story was good enough to keep my interest, but I was a little distracted by the performance as the voices of the men in the story sounded so very girly. I was able to get past it as soon as I got used to the way Elizabeth Pike narrated. The plot was good enough to keep me going, but I wouldn't want to listen to Pike narrate a story predominately about men.
