Summary

My name is Haldin Raish. Legionnaire. And the High General just murdered my parents.

My dad was well respected in the Legion. Always had a reputation for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He was a good man. And whatever he stumbled onto got them both killed. Messily.

Now, that red-eyed thing is coming for me.

It walks like the High General. Talks like him, too. But it's not. Human beings don't shirk off gunfire and smack grown men across the room like that. Not even High Generals. And he's not the only one.

The only reason I'm alive is Carlisle. I still don't understand how he found me that night, or how he does the things he does. Telekinesis. Inhuman speed. He tells me I can do these things too. I'm pretty sure he's insane. Or one of them

But if the crazy bastard can help me get another shot at the thing that murdered my parents, well then...sign me up.

These things picked the wrong planet to mess with.

If you like wild tales of gutsy heroes fighting impossible odds, don't miss this fresh sci-fi epic. Start listening today!

OK but not great

It's a freebie so can't complain too much. Eric Summerer does a decent job reading the book.

The story is a bit two dimensional. Nothing really wrong with it. Just a bit blah.

Well worth a listen

I really enjoyed the book. It's an alien takeover attempt but from a different perspective. (at least from other books I've read)
Eric Michael Summerer is a great narrator as well.

Inconsistent & Corny

I am glad that many people like this title. For me it was not to be. The characters are shallow and the protagonists' internal dialog is simple, out of place, and repetitive. Add to this the love story coupled with the over-described teenage insecurity and my eye rolling threatened to make me dizzy. The dire emergency situation in the moment the monsters were about to break through the wall, it was time for the first kiss. That did me in. I am unable to listen further.

Just use real swear words!

Honestly the over use of made up swear words killed it for me. Could not even get 10% through this book. If you want your characters to be foul mouthed just go all in. Don’t make it so childish.

Narration was fantastic and story had potential

Really liked the narration. Also the basic story was very interesting. However I did not like main character. He made illogical decisions and spent a lot of time thinking about “feelings” at inappropriate times. It also seemed strange when fighting for your life and those of your friends, that you just knock out enemies.. so they can show up again later and try to kill you.

teenage romance kills the story.

the boring, cliché, over dramatic romance in this book seams way to forced and unnecessary. would of been so much better with out the addition of it at all.

Enjoyable!

Shadows of Divinity, Luke Mitchell is a well-written story in its own right and it shines when narrated by the talented Eric Michael Summerer. I highly recommend!
