Summary

Nina is a normal Florida girl with a job and a life and a grandmother she adores. But lately, she’s been having disturbing dreams: dreams of a man with a shadowed face - a man filled with pain and need and desire only she can slake. She fears him, but at the same time, the dreams leave her breathless with need. Who is this dark stranger, and what does he want of her?

Reddix is a Touch Kindred with an inverted Touch sense - he can’t touch with his mind like others of his kind. Instead, he is doomed to endure their emotions like a physical invasion every time he’s around anyone. Desperation drives him to kidnap Nina - the girl of whom he has been dreaming. But he doesn’t take her out of love, but as a sacrifice to one who claims she can cure his affliction.

Snatching Nina from her job, Reddix takes her on a journey to the stars that ends in disaster. Now, marooned on a strange planet, they will have to learn to work together in order to survive.

Can Nina forgive Reddix’s attack and gain his trust enough to heal him...or will his fate remain forever shadowed?

I love the kindred series But!...

Well I've read this on the kindle and loved it, I then decided to buy the Audible version and what a let down, the incessant inner dialogue whispering completely ruined it for me, spoilt such a lovely book I have bought other Audible books in the kindred series and loved them it's just this particular narrater. , I will be checking in the future, but it won't stop me buying the kindred series on kindle.

still liking this series

This series is fabulous! The way that the stories flow is really good and keeping previous characters involved seriously works for me, but it does mean the books need to be read in sequence in my opinion. This story revolves around Nina and Reddix, who is a touch kindred with a major problem. He kidnaps Nina at the behest of the swamp witch and this leads to all sorts of adventures for the pair.
A great read (listen) that is worth the effort of the writing.

Meh

Spoilers...

For the following reasons I almost didn't finish this book:

1. I did NOT like the body shaming and self-loathing. The heroine spent WAY too much time disliking herself and complaining about her hips and butt. She was smart and capable, so it didn't 'feel' right for her to be hung up on something so superficial when she was totally secure about other things that should have had her running scared. So, crash landing and stranded on an alien planet after being kidnapped? Piece of cake! Taking care of and protecting the kidnapper when he's overwhelmed with illness? Sure! But my butt is big so no one would ever want me. <-- See? It doesn't make sense.

2. The number of times that the main heroine expressed herself with "Uh, well, uh, uh, uh" drove me nuts.

3. The heroine is supposed to be Native American (she says it several times). However, as a Native American woman in real life, I don't know a single full-blood in my close circle of family/friends or my extended tiyóspaye (and we're talking about a large number of people across several states) that looks like a blue-eye white girl, which is how the author continually describes the heroine. It just doesn't make any dang sense. At all.

4. If not for wanting to see what would happen with the Swamp Witch, I'm not sure I would have finished at all. Got to Chpt 8 of the next book in the series and gave up.

Let the bear in.

As usual Evangeline Anderson makes a very sexy story. This particular story had a bit of a Snow White feel to it. I wished that there would have been more of Nina’s Indian heritage and medicine incorporated into the story, but it is what it is and I enjoyed the story very much. I’m looking forward to the next book, it should be fun with Maggie and Kor. I’m also looking forward to the book with Becca and her guys. Narrator is good as usual; his female voice seems to be improving a bit. I’m hoping Audible will come out with the next book soon.

Amazing

I love everything about this series but the whispering!! It is so annoying especially if you have headphones on. The story was great and I love how the big kindred was healed by his mate. I hope this author writes more about all the main kindred and their growing families. I highly recommend this book, even with the annoying whispering! I mean who whispers when they think. Why would they need to whisper, who can hear what they are thinking??? 🤔😕

Good but

Nina got on my nerves; she was so irritating at times; Riddix was equally as irritating. It was a good story, but not as good as others. William did a great job as usual. The next book should be a good one.

A certified dud. Don't waste your time.

it was an absolutely horrible. this was the worst the author has done in the kindred brides series. Pierre the bait Nina constantly says "uh .. okay" throughout most of her dialogue in the book. and I struggled with the love scenes. All that downtown tongue action by the kindred males irritated me greatly. Things didn't really get good and steamy till the very end and that was short-lived. And the whispering by the narrator... need I say more? I can honestly say that this book could be skipped.

Great read

While this is not my favorite book in the series it was still very fun and entertaining, and there are a few steamy scenes. However, the resolution to this story was pretty weak compared to some other books in the series.

Another great story

I have come to love all of Evangeline Anderson's books in this series. I really love the narrator as well. I could listen to him talk all day and night. I hope audible adds the rest of the series ASAP because I want to be able to listen to them all in order. I would definitely recommend the whole series. This story made me smile, laugh, and cry. I love happy ending and this one has it. I also love how Evangeline introduces the next story so we'll.
