Summary
Are you suffering from disabilities that make performing daily tasks a struggle?
Do you wish you felt more freedom and empowerment to do the things you love?
I know I was. Hi, my name’s Jenna. And for years, I let my disability stop me from living a life I really loved and that I knew I was capable of living. My disability left me in a state of feeling powerless, alone, and afraid. I knew there had to be a way to improve my life experience in a myriad of ways, and among other methods, getting and training a service dog has been one of the most significant sources of help upon my life in more ways than I can count. Ever since then, I’ve been passionate about sharing this knowledge with others so that they can be empowered in a similar way that I was.
Many people with disabilities can benefit from service dogs and not just those in wheelchairs. If you have diabetes, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, self-harm tendencies, or any number of other disabilities, a service dog may help you. However, in America, the standard cost of a fully trained service dog is 25 grand. This is more than many people can afford, especially when a large portion of their income is already going to paying medical bills. But, the good news is that you can fully train your own service dog. You might even find that, by training your own puppy, rather than having a stranger board and train it until it's an adult, you, and your puppy develop a closer bond that enables him to assist you better.
There is a lot of confusion on how to train service dogs, the legalities, which breeds are best, and more. In this audiobook, you will find answers to all of these questions and more. Not only are the United States of America’s laws regarding service dogs explained, but also the United Kingdom’s laws are explained as well, among many other useful things.
In this audiobook, you will find:
- A detailed look at America’s and the UK’s service dog laws
- The most common and best service dog breeds of all sizes
- Helpful tasks and commands service dogs can learn
- Frequently asked questions and their answers
- The difference of service dogs, emotional support dogs, and therapy dogs
- How to choose the right potential service puppy
The basics all service dogs need to know
A four-week training course including a multitude of commands and how to walk your puppy through the training process continuing training down the road and more!

It really works!!!!
I had a dog that I had adopted and I wondered if she might work out well as a service dog. I found the book very easy to read, and the instructions quite easy to follow. The author was absolutely correct about service dogs needing to be trained By Using praise and rewards. I have been working with my canine partner since January of this year. Three times now she has alerted me to blood sugars that were too high or too low. Thank you so much for this amazing book.

A waste of my time.
This is full of outdated, strange information. it refers to dogs that "don't obey" as stubborn... it's 2022, we know better.

Excellent training guide about Service Dog
This was a well written and clear step by step guide on Training Your Own Service Dog. I am diabetic and have been interested in diabetic alert dogs and this book has a lot of great information.
The author really knows what she is doing. Very concise and detailed; tells you what to do step by step. Author makes it sound very simple and easy to obtain results. Author wants you to make it fun for the dog. Like the use of positive reinforcements. Very good book

clear and easy to follow Service Dog
Oh wow! This was a wonderful purchase! Easy to read and understand and it walks you through all of the nasics for getting a dog prepared to begin alerting for blood glucose highs and lows! It even gives alternate suggestions and helps the reader to understand options available to them. would DEFINITELY recommend and repurchase! So worth it!

I like that it is more instruction oriented
I have several dog training books acquired over many years. I use this one now for my new Dog and I find it more helpful than others and the author's methods are very effective.
Most training books are filled with stories that make it hard to find the instruction, and while this book does include its share of stories, it is more clear than most. I appreciate that.

Good information about Service Dog
Good information. I just need to follow it consistently. The book is easy to read and understand. The author seems knowledgeable about dog behaviors and training methods.
I got a dog, and she was my first rescue, so a brush up on do's and don't's were a must. I was recommended this by a vet and thought it was GREAT - especially since my husband never had a dog. Great handbook

does not train a dog.
I can't even finish this. it is not worth the credit I paid. I did not learn to train a dog I only learned the laws mostly. I have a service dog that has lost some of her teachings and I was looking for a refresher for her. this is not that.

Good Overview & Outline
I really liked that the author had a weekly training plan. She gave great guidance on the process to teach different services I’d be needing to train my puppy & hopefully future service animal.
If possible, I’ll come back after some weeks of training & give more feedback. I’ve studied lots to prepare for my future best friend. I live on wheels and have been for 10 years now so I’d love some extra help as my body is beginning to feel the wear of pushing my chair & the extra work my arms & shoulders do to get me through the day. Can’t wait to start!
