Summary
A Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!
Who says you can’t live the rock and roll life after 40?
You just need a lot more vitamins and a bigger bottle of aspirin.
Valerie Costa was pretty sure she was rocking her forties. She had an amazing coffee shop, two cool teenagers, and a new superpower that gave her insight into any random object she touched.
Okay, she wasn’t thrilled about that last one.
Ever since Val and her two best friends had driven their car off the edge and into Glimmer Lake the year before, Val has struggled with her new abilities. She’s not exactly sure she wants to be psychic, she could live without her newfound glove addiction, and honestly no one wants to know that much about their teenage sons.
But when Val’s ex-husband goes missing, and police show up at her door with questions she can’t answer, Val, Robin, and Monica are going to have to use their sudden psychic abilities to solve a mystery none of them saw coming.
Semi-Psychic Life is a standalone paranormal women’s fiction novel in the Glimmer Lake series by USA Today best seller, Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

Another hit for me!
I loved book one in this series so much when I listened to it that I couldn’t wait to listen to the next two but life intervened so it was nearly a month later before I got to listen to this one. The fun thing about that though, was that my husband and I got to listen to it together in the car when we took a short road trip. We both enjoyed it so much that we had to finish listening to it as soon as we got in the house. 😊
Book one, Suddenly Psychic, sets up this series but I still think you could enjoy this as a standalone. Elizabeth Hunter does a great job of giving you information you need about events that happened in that book without it seeming redundant to someone reading them one right after the other.
Val’s psychic ability is getting information from touching objects and she hates it. She feels like she can’t have a normal life because she learns things she doesn’t want to know. Taking anti-anxiety medication and wearing gloves has helped but not really enough. When her ex-husband, Josh, goes missing she finds that her ability does come in handy as well as the abilities that her friends Monica and Robin have.
I love the mystery behind Josh’s disappearance and how just when I thought I had things figured out the author threw something else out to make me question what I thought. There were a few twists and turns along the way that kept me (and my husband) totally engaged in the story to the point that we couldn’t wait to finish listening to it.
Just like with book one, Ava Lucas did an outstanding job performing this audiobook and I am very much looking forward to listening to book three.

A Captivating Mystery That Had Me Hooked!
I'm already a fan of Elizabeth Hunter's books and love her writing style. Her stories tick all the boxes for me. Intelligent writing style that's easy to read, main characters with personality traits that don't frustrate me, depth of character in the supporting cast, believable background story and setting - even when based in the paranormal - and a balanced mix of relationship, tension, action, humour and mystery in the plot line.
As a menopausal woman myself, I love that this series has older protagonists and supporting characters. About bloody time! Woohoo!
This is the first time I've heard a book narrated by Ava Lucas. I thought her performance was really good. She conveyed the appropriate emotions when reading the different scenes and I liked the pace that she read at too. Ava has a number of convincing accents and voices in her repertoire. It was clear during the many conversations who was saying what.
Semi-Psychic Life is the second book in the Glimmer Lake series. However, I think it can work as a standalone title too. I'd recommend Semi-Psychic Life to readers who enjoy stories about the fine line between being self-reliant and asking for help. The value of strong, healthy friendships in our lives and not being afraid of opening your heart.
Semi-Psychic Life is a sort of second coming-of-age story for older, independent, capable women with a generous helping of banter, humour and realistic issues for the over 40s within a paranormal mystery.
I can't wait to read the next book - Psychic Dreams.

Love the midlife books
Really appreciate that this series isn’t your typical angry divorcee storyline. I love the variation.

Love Glimmer Lake. Book 2 gets an A+
Love Val and Sully. Val is adjusting well to her powers, Josh is Josh, but looks like he may really be growing up a bit.
Enjoy this series more than any other 40+ books that are coming out quite a bit this year. Lots of magic, friendships, family times, some romance and a mystery to solve.
Ava Lucas does a fine job with her narrations, easy to recognize who’s speaking.
Can’t wait for Monica’s book. Hope that West is in her book.
As good as book one

I'm in love
this series so far is amazing. I listen on my way to work and I literally can't wait to get in my car in the morning and after work just to hear what is going too happen next. I don't listen any other time because I don't want to get through it so fast. I hope there are more than three books in this series!!!

Disappointing plot, slow and tiresome

Gave up before the end and only listened past half way because of first book enjoyment
In summary, predicable and slow - sorry

Good
Story was a little long. I was really happy I heard 3 before 2. Val is a little shallow and long winded but overall the story was different and fun. Love this author. She has an Amazing imagination. Can’t wait to see what else she writes. The scribe is my all time favorite book.

Book was too short.
An interesting story line with couples that sil love each other after years of marriage. Divorced couple trying to figure out co-parenting when one of them is more of a child than the children. An interesting mystery that was fairly predictable but still keeps your interest.

Another great book!
Definitely read the first book in the series before this one— not because you can’t follow this one if you don’t but because the first one is as enjoyable as this one and there are spoilers to book one here. This second installment focuses on Val and Monica and Robin only play minor roles, but the story is solid and entertaining. Once again, nicely narrated on the audio. Looking forward to reading/listening to Monica’s story next. Well worth the Audible credit.

Great Psychic Story
This is what I call an easy psychic story. There's no guts and terrible violence. It's just a good mystery psychic story.
