Story
Roxie’s on the run from a bad boyfriend who will not catch the hint that it is o-v-e-r. She’s in no mood for love at first sight, but when her eyes fall on Hank, it’s trouble from the get-go. Roxie tries to hold Hank at arm's length but Hank wants to be a closer (as in, a lot closer). Roxie’s trouble catches up with her and Hank wants to help but Roxie knows in her heart that she’s no good for a white-hat guy. The problem is no one agrees with her, especially her crazy hippie best friend Annette or her parents; the even crazier small-Indiana-town Herb and Trish.

Awful Narration
- By Polgara1964 on 14-07-19
Summary
Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.
Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.
Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.
Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

Rock Chick escapism for the Rock Chick fans
Jet is working several jobs to support her sick mother, and cop Eddie gets involved when her deadbeat father puts her in danger. I have read all the Rock Chick stories but I am finding on audible they are not so good. Or maybe I am just a bit older and less tolerant!
Jet spent most of the story acting and thinking like an immature 16 year old virgin. All the men she meet instantly adore her, but she has a weird hangout that she is not pretty so does not actually deserve a good looking guy. To be honest I was a little annoyed at the constant reminder of how important it is to be beautiful, especially as most of the time Jet could not even manage a decent conversation with any of the ‘hot guys.’ Sorry, that’s not attractive, and the fact they seemed to adore her nevertheless just makes them all seem a bit shallow. Through most of the book Jet actively tried to push Eddie away, including doing everything to get out of having sex with him, even after having fabulous sex with him! Eventually being ‘reluctant’ became weird. I found myself wishing Eddie would brush her off and go with someone who actually appreciated having him around, especially when Jet repeatedly put herself in danger by making dumb decisions, and then has a ‘thing’ with at least three other guys. It did not make sense that all these super hot guys were so attracted to her: Seriously, a girl having a hair pulling, scratching fight on the floor of a coffee shop with her sister is not cute, or sexy; and sneaking off to meet up with the someone who wants to rape you, when you are surrounded by professional security guys, all willing to help, is the ultimate TSTL moment. This book has the bones of a good story, but a good relationship is a partnership, not one person doing stupid stuff, while the other person had to constantly bail them out.
Sorry, my review is pretty awful for a writer that I really admire. Maybe I have just grown out of the Rock Chick series. They are a definite bit of escapism, and they do have a loyal following. I think they are better on kindle, where it is possible to skim over the idiotic bits. The narration of this book was perfect, but some story lines just do not hold up on audible.

Oh god Eddie please just shoot her!
I love the Rock Chick series and have read them all on Kindle and decided to download them to enjoy in the car and the office. I found Jet high irritating when I read the book but the audible version just made me want to shoot her. She is a whining, whinging, completely clueless and selfish person. She has no idea and has the mental fortitude of a 5 year old. Of all the rock chick books this woman is no rock chick more road kill!

Romantic and fun
Though this lacks some of the spark of the first book the story is a little stronger. The writer writes in the first person and has changed the style for the heroine, Jet. I have serious issues with a grown woman constantly letting out "eek!" In her internal dialogue and referring to her nether regions as her "dooda", but if you can get past that it's a fun read. This narrator is very good and apart from the odd line, does a good job of bringing the story to life.

Deja by
I really had high hopes for this book after so enjoying the first. However disappointment ensued after realising that this is an almost replica of the first book; the focus relationship is nearly identical along with the sequence of events. The sex scenes are superfluous and awkward, and I could not get to grips with the main character referring to her lady part as a 'doo dah' (a term normally reserved for the package your pet dog deposits while out on a walk).
The performance is wonderful and I really enjoy Susannah's voice (maybe not so much whilst uttering the term doo dah!) but I am left wondering I want to continue with this series. *spoiler alert* Will they all be the same formulaic 'boy meets girl, girl needs help, boy protects girl from bad guys, freakishly hot guy falls for low self esteem girl and pursues in controlling manner'.

NOT ASHLEY'S BEST
I really hate writing poor reviews, especially for an author that I will forever be a fangirl for! This series may not be for me. I enjoyed the first book, but right from the start of RESCUE I wasn't drawn in; the narration was not working for me, nor the main character's personalities. Some of the humor was predictable and slap stick, the sexy scenes were lukewarm at best, and the overall storyline just--lacked. She's definitely produced better. All that said, I am going in for book 3 because of course, Kristen Ashley is still one of my favorite authors hands down!

a bit of the same
loved this and the first... but this one was a bit of the same... I'm seeing a pattern... hot girl who has low self-esteem, gets into trouble and hot guy who likes her rescues her... and she doesn't listen/tries to rescue herself/gets into more trouble and ends up handcuffed to something...
I think if the writing weren't so freakin funny I'd have bailed by now, but I'm thinkin I might just go ahead and read the next one!
also, everyone has flip phones... hahaha!

Could Have Been Much Better
What on earth were the writer and editor thinking to have so many "eeks" throughout the book? They were everywhere; any word overused is just lazy redundancy, but this non-stop non-word was simply irritating. It all but ruined any chance the book had for being enjoyed, as well as ruining any chance that the main character had for being likable. That this was a word she used constantly made her seem weak, weird and annoying. Such a shame no one had the good sense to cut the draft by about 70 eeks. There were other problems with the narrative and main character, but it isn't possible to judge the whole fairly in the face of this literary equivalent to finger nails on a chalkboard.

Good Grief
I am in full agreement with the reviewer "Judi of Vancouver!" If the word eek or the word shish hadn't been thrown at this listener so many times. This book might not have been so bad. But good grief I almost wanted to pull my hair out from them being repeated so many times. If this had been the first book I bought by this author it would have been the last. Due to the amount of action she keeps pulling me back to her books. I could do with 1/2 of the sex scenes but can deal with them by pulling the ear plugs out until there is something worth while to listen to again.

Alpha men, headstrong women and hilarious story
Where does Rock Chick Rescue rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
With each book that I have read and/or listened to in this series just got better! This book is at the top of my list.
What other book might you compare Rock Chick Rescue to and why?
I don't know of another book to compare this one too unless maybe it was Kristen Ashley's Motorcycle Man series or her Unfinished Heroes series. They both have strong, alpha men, headstrong women, romance, and lots of comedy in them.
What does Susannah Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Susannah Jones' voice and the tone she used really brought out the hilarity in these audio books. She is the best narrator I have heard yet! I really hope she narrates more of Kristen Ashley's books and other similar authors.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were lots of moving moments in this book! I cried and laughed all the way through them. Kristen Ashley really knows how to write a good romance book with comedy and Susannah Jones read it perfectly!

Not as good as the 1st.
This was good, but I liked book one more. I will get book 3 at some point, but for now I have other books that I want more. Still, I like that I have a series to go back to.

my friend recommended this and I've been very entertained. it's fun to read the series that kind of has a rhythm to it. you really get into it even though it may be completely unbelievable.... I love fiction!

I love this series
First let's see oh right what was wrong with jet she gives the blonds in this world a bad rap. She didn't listen to anything anyone ever said to her. She constantly gets in trouble which could have easily been avoided if she listened hence the word listen. Eddie told her often enough how he felt about her and over her ditzy blond head it went. Otherwise the story was just as good as her other books love it .
