Creepy!

Whilst the story was really good the male narration was extremely creepy when he was doing the voices of CJ, Scott and Pierce!! His normal narration was fine thou! I found the discription of Pierce’s “abuse” of his victims to be a little too graffic also.
Storyline was interesting and at times very gripping.

Male Narrated Voice was Creepy

All in all I liked the story line but had a VERY hard time really getting into the story because I found the male narrator's voice creepy. There wasn't enough of a change in voices between the bad guy and the good guy. So it felt like the good guy was also a creepy character. Also felt like there was way too much details shared in the mind of sexual predictor character of this story and went too far.

Warning: This book contains violent imagery

I would have appreciated a clear warning that there was non-consensual, violet sexual assault combined with pedophilic ideation by the antagonist. The book was well written and illustrates the thin line between intense, consensual sex and sadistic kidnapping and assault. However, it was a difficult listen for that reason. I could not enjoy the protagonists’ relationship. The author can weave suspenseful tales with complex intersections.

Becky says

Rescuing Melissa was a more endepth book than usual, it was unexpected, it showed how sick the characters were but in the end good won over evil. I think this would have also been a good book to have a spin-off or intertwine with another book.
