Summary

We live in dark times. Christians wonder: Are the best days of the Christian faith behind us? Has modernity made Christian thought irrelevant and impotent? Is society beyond all hope of redemption and renewal? In Renaissance, Os Guinness declares no. Throughout history, the Christian faith has transformed entire cultures and civilizations, building cathedrals and universities, proclaiming God's goodness, beauty and truth through art and literature, science, and medicine. The Christian faith may similarly change the world again today. The church can be revived to become a renewing power in our society - if we answer the call to a new Christian renaissance that challenges darkness with the hope of Christian faith.

In this hopeful appeal for cultural transformation, Guinness shares opportunities for Christians, on both local and global levels, to win back the West and to contribute constructively to the human future. Hearkening back to similar pivotal points in history, Guinness encourages Christians in the quest for societal change. Each chapter closes with thought-provoking discussion questions and a brief, heart-felt prayer that challenges and motivates us to take action in our lives today.

Os is brilliant and as always prescient.

An inredible book will challenge the reader(Christ follower) to strip away evangelical name-tags and turn back not to some fictitious "Golden Era", but to a person. That person being Christ and His message.

A heartening message, well read.

This book is a vital message for discouraged Christians. The author gives us historical context how God has rescued the West two times before from ungodliness and appeals for us to strive for a third Awakening, by God's grace. Listen to it with joy and seek to spread its message of hope.

Renaissance

Most accurate description of our modern society and world at large. The writer, Os Guinness is a genius social, historical, political and spiritual analyst. His conclusions are both historically accurate and biblically based. The Christian church are encouraged to continue faithfully without being distracted by the progressive attack against the Christian foundations in the West. The Western Church, which includes the so called 'Evangelical' are drowning in the relative compromism. God is neither surprised nor disturbed by these changes. God is Sovereign and He forever remains Sovereign. No power on earth or in the heavens or in hell can make tiniest dent in God's eternal plan. Amen.

In a Culture of Diverse Directions

This book gives the clearest interpretation of true freedom in a culture of differences for those living out their beliefs. Freedom to allow others to lay the foundation of their lives in diverse directions. This book will be reviewed many times until my life looks like the one Jesus called me to live.

Very good analysis of the current Christianity

This book has a lot of good thought provoking analysis. I need to listen again because it is very deep.

The narrator is a bit dry and monotonic in his reading.

Yay

Narrator is a little dry. Good stuff from Guinness though. I hope more of his works find their way to audible.
