Summary

Welcome to Purgatory 2.0. We’ll be with you shortly.

Every battle needs a battlefield, especially in the eternal struggle between good and evil. But the unfortunate souls who are sent here don’t bide their time meekly awaiting judgment—they fight for their souls.

Victor Goodspeed is a businessman, taken at the back end of his prime. He wasn’t a bad man, but he was a businessman, which didn’t tip the scales of morality in his favor.

Now, he must fight for his life—his afterlife—with God and his armies of angels on one side, and the temptations of Lucifer and his minions on the other. Can Victor overcome these obstacles and secure his place in eternity? The answer awaits...

In Purgatory.

This novel is a supernatural/paranormal LitRPG adventure through the afterlife.

Well themed LitRPG book

Pretty solid tower climber LitRPG book. What made this better than the usual masses in this genre was its overall theme. I enjoyed that it was had a religious backdrop taking place in Purgatory but was never bogged down in being preachy.
This had some pretty good monsters, floor designs, spell mechanics and a bit of crafting. There was nice progression of the MC in strength and some compelling fights. There wasn't any 'big bad' villains introduced but more based around PVE where the MC needed to beat the floors. Humour was good and hints to the bigger story/ world.
This was a good starting book to what is hopefully a long series.
Narrators were very good.

Neat Tower Climber style litRPG!

I recieved this audiobook as part of a promotion.
I give four stars if the book was okay and five stars if i enjoyed it.

I could hardly stop listening to this book from start to finish. When i started to get tired of the usual exp grind, behold a plot twist! The MC, despite beeing an atheist, finds himself in pergatory because he was baptized by birth and never renounced his faith. Luckily, religion doesn't take alot of space in the story.
The book is a tower climber about clearing levels of demons and proving your worth in pergatory before beeing sent to hevean or hell. The people sent here can't go into purgatory together, but can socialise on the outside. The MC is free to choose his own path forward, what weapons and skills he would like to specialize in. He isn't forced to chose a class allthough his starting stats and life experiences influence what he will be better at doing.
The multiple narrators gives extra life to the story, and makes it easier to listen to.
