Summary
Cybernetics (loosely translated from the Greek): "a helmsman who steers his ship to port". Psycho-cybernetics is a term coined by Dr. Maxwell Maltz that means "steering your mind to a productive, useful goal so you can reach the greatest port in the world: peace of mind".
Since its first publication in 1960, Maltz's landmark best seller has inspired and enhanced the lives of more than 30 million readers. In this updated edition, with a new introduction and editorial commentary by Matt Furey, president of the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation, the original text has been annotated and amplified to make Maltz's message even more relevant for the contemporary audience.
"Before the mind can work efficiently, we must develop our perception of the outcomes we expect to reach. Maxwell Maltz calls this Psycho-Cybernetics; when the mind has a defined target it can focus and direct and refocus and redirect until it reaches its intended goal." (Tony Robbins, from Unlimited Power)
Maltz was the first researcher and author to explain how the self-image (a term he popularized) has complete control over an individual's ability to achieve (or failure to achieve) any goal. And he developed techniques for improving and managing self-image - visualization, mental rehearsal, relaxation - that have informed and inspired countless motivational gurus, sports psychologists, and self-help practitioners for more than 50 years.
The teachings of psycho-cybernetics are timeless because they are based on solid science and provide a prescription for thinking and acting that lead to quantifiable results.
Critic reviews
"Psycho-Cybernetics is a classic personal development book. Most of the current speakers in the area of personal development, including Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy and others owe a debt to Maxwell Maltz for the foundation of their material. The psychological training of Olympic athletes is also based on the concepts in Psycho-Cybernetics. Thousands, possibly millions, of people have benefited by putting these ideas to work. Put Psycho-Cybernetics on your 'must-read' list." (Michael C. Gray, Profit Advisors)
"Published in 1960, Psycho-Cybernetics remains one the classics of self-help, self-improvement, and personal development." (Mind of Success)
"An invaluable aid to the layman, offering a sound, scientific method of practical self-improvement." (Mark Freeman, PhD, clinical psychologist)

The way up call that you just need if you want to improve your self image
Hello, my name is Dan quay and I thought I give this audio book a quick review, whenever it comes audio books I'm always sceptic, Maxwell maltz, I had previously done research on physco-cybernetics, on you tube, it was about self image, so I had understanding about it,
The reason I wanted to read the book, it was recommended by Matt Lloyd, but I prefer the audio version because it saves time.
I enjoyed listening to this audio, great stories and his voice is a inspiration and could relate to a lot of the stories that, his voice is very soothing and relaxing which I found helpful, helping me sleep, for last few weeks I felt like I was in a hypnotic state, I know it cold outside and the cold makes me feel like that,
So if you feel you need a kick up the backside and push in the directionn you want to go,meaning forward then this book will help.
I now feel happy that I listened to this book, its weight of my shoulders, so if you want improved self image, buy this book now

Ahead Of His Time
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Already have! This book answers so many questions.
What did you like best about this story?
If you know there is something to personal development, but have been put off by the hype and thanking the universe for stuff, this will help. The premise is so simple, but so profound.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You can dip in and out, but it needs to be listened to more than once.

Valuable book but awful narration
I’m halfway through the book but I’m going to purchase a physical copy as the narrator sounds horribly boring. There’s a lot of valuable information included but I struggle with identifying the practical advice because of the robotic narrator.

A Masterpiece narrated by a knucklehead
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I can't believe that a knucklehead like Matt Fury has managed to get his grubby opportunist gutter marketeer hands on this classic.having to listen to his interjections is like listening to a Mozart piece of music being critiqued by a tone deaf busker....
What other book might you compare Psycho-Cybernetics to, and why?
This book is the daddy of almost all the modern age self help visualization genre, minus all the fluff.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
stuck to selling silly wrestling courses online...
Was Psycho-Cybernetics worth the listening time?
yes, minus the narrator.
Any additional comments?
buy the original version.

Discovery of a New way of Living
By far the best book I have ever read. Take all the things mentioned sincere and see the good-will of this book.
I truly thank you Maxwell Maltz and Matt Furey for this gift.

Fascinating read
Having just finished this, I’m going to listen to it again, so much to learn and implement - fascinating.
Fully recommended reading if you want to understand why you think and do what you think and do.

Outdated Nonsense
The neuroscience is our dated, the social politics are excruciating, the pseudo science is laughable and the creationist twaddle at its heart makes it philosophically ridiculous. The only good stuff is the visualisation techniques, and better skills can be learned elsewhere. Do not buy this book.

A must read in the personal development sector
Even though the evidence has been improved a lot since this book was written, the concepts still stand strong about the power of self image. Recommended for everyone interested in positive psychology

A Must Read!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Listen to this book at 1.25 speed for his normal speaking voice.
This book is incredibly fascinating. Humans are easily programmed but most of us in the civilized world were being bombarded from birth and became programmed by many external forces. Television time slots are literally called "programming"
How funny is that? Imagine having a civilization full of robots and you design the way they think.
The thoughts and techniques in this book will give you an actionable game plan to program yourself
I would also recommend looking into mindfulness meditation. Headspace.com is a good start. You gain the ability to observe your thoughts instead of identifying with them. You can only "know" this feeling if you have experiential evidence so go try it for yourself. It will help you separate the oil & the water of your personality.
Look to the people you admire the most on the planet, the pieces of their personality are your reference material. Wishing you a full and beautiful life.

Use 1.25x as speed
The narrator is very slow talking. But at a higher speed it is perfectly fine.
The content is great and the sound quality is good.

Best life improving book I have ever read
I read a lot of books (one a week) and this one is the absolute best book on how to actually improve your life that I have ever read. Far too often books are not able to live up to the claims they make but this one far outperforms in every way. Get this book, after you have read it you will be amazed at the very small price you paid for it, and probably be willing to have paid far more for the value you get out of it.

I thought I had read the most useful books already
This book is addictive and yet another one for the library of knowledge I will be passing along to all my children when they are old enough to understand the material. I have been on a personal growth journey for 5 years, and this finding has been one of the best. The material not only echoes and explains further the information I have gathered to this point, it has added to the storehouse of knowledge. It's a lengthy find, but I couldn't put it down and am somewhat sad to see the end.

The Narrator Is Awful
I only got to the 3rd chapter (after starting over three time), removed it from my device and purchased a version where this guy, (Matt Furey) was not doing the reading. I have never in my life, heard someone who speaks so slowly and monotonous. Why on Earth would anyone allow him to read ANYTHING to ANYONE? OAN: thoroughly enjoyed the other one I downloaded. Get the book, just make sure Matt Furey isn't narrating it...or any other one for that matter.

The mother of everything self help
I'm not one to write reviews but psycho-cybernetics is such a good book that it deserves to be reviewed. The vast majority of self help books that post date psycho-cybernetics take the main principals from it. If you are considering getting this book you have to go for it I promise you will not regret it.

Life in it's truest form.
Since the first 3 chapters, this book changed the way I saw the world and the way I correlated it to my life; it changed my life, it changed me. It's something that can hardly be fully described with words, but I was able to find a side of me and of my life that I never even thought it existed; I found myself. It's as if someone came and told me, "this has been your life, this has been you, but, breaking news, it doesn't have to be that way."
This is a book that you read or listen, but which you LIVE and EXPERIENCE.
Having Matt Furey narrate it himself adds strong emotion and a profound, personal connection to the material that will reosund with any human being willing to learn how to live and function the way we're supposed to.

Life changing content, unfortunate packaging
This book will absolutely revolutionize your life for the better if you apply what it teaches. I love personal development books and this is definitely one of my favorites. A potential drawback is the way it’s written at times feels like its for a more academic audience rather than a feel good self esteem book. I love it but the style can be difficult for some to follow. Unfortunately the reader does very little to bring it to life, and they seem to have slowed down his voice by about 25%. Luckily there’s an option through the Audible app to speed it up. Fantastic material that deserves to be a little better executed in my opinion.

Matt Fury put me to sleep
The book is interesting, but the narrators voice is stereotypical lecturer. Droning on and on
