Summary

Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!

She’s feeling the heat. Or it might be a hot flash. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell.

It’s been four years since Monica lost the love of her life to a sudden and devastating heart attack. She’s held her family together and picked herself up with the love and help of her two best friends. Now Monica has a new business, a new wardrobe, and a new vision for the future.

As in actual psychic visions. Dreams that manifest in reality? Monica’s still not sure why or how it happened, but she’s been seeing everything from unexpected visitors to visions of fire and destruction.

Separating premonitions from morbid imagination is proving harder than Monica expected, and no one can tell her if these new, violent visions will become a reality.

Added to that, there’s a new fire investigator in town, and he’s more than a little suspicious about the anonymous and frighteningly accurate tips someone is calling in. Monica is feeling the heat…or is that a hot flash?

Is their town about to feel the burn of a serial arsonist, or can Monica, Robin, and Val figure out the dangerous secret smoldering at the heart of Glimmer Lake?

Psychic Dreams is a standalone paranormal women’s fiction novel in the Glimmer Lake series by USA Today best seller Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries and the Irin Chronicles.

This is a great series!

Psychic Dreams is the third book in the Glimmer Lake series. While I think you can enjoy this one as a standalone, I highly recommend reading this series in order. Book one sets everything up for the series but the author does give you enough information so that you can enjoy each book as a standalone if you prefer.

Monica has been a widow for a few years now but she’s thinking about dating again. Her psychic ability is precognition; when she dreams, she sees future events, sometimes good and sometimes not. She recently had a sexy dream but she doesn’t recognize the man in her dream. Imagine how she feels when she meets that man in real life!

She’s also having dreams about fires in their town but she doesn’t know what they mean. With the help of her two friends, both with their own different abilities, they finally figure things out but is it in time to help prevent disaster from happening?

I absolutely loved all three books in this series and can’t pick a favorite. There are a few twists in Psychic Dreams that I didn’t see coming and I was on the edge of my seat at times. But, there’s also delightful wit and great secondary characters.

Before I listened to Psychic Dreams I knew that there is a spin-off series and was intrigued by a sneak peek of it at the end of this audiobook. I now want to make time to listen to the Moonstone Cove series.

I almost forgot to mention how much I loved the audio performance of Ava Lucas. I was very happy to see that she also performs the Moonstone Cove series.

A Chilling Mystery That Sparked My Imagination.

I'm already a fan of Elizabeth Hunter's books and love her writing style. Her stories tick all of my boxes. Intelligent writing style that's easy to read. Main characters with personality traits that don't frustrate me. Variety and depth of character in the supporting cast. Credible background stories and settings - even when based in the paranormal. Plus, a balanced plot that's a mix of action, mystery, tension, and humour with elements dealing with romance and relationships.

As a menopausal woman myself, I love that this series has older protagonists and supporting characters. About bloody time! Woohoo!

This is only the second audiobook I've heard narrated by Ava Lucas. I thought her performance was really good. She conveyed the appropriate emotions when reading the different scenes and I liked the pace that she read at too. Ava has a number of convincing accents and voices in her repertoire - both male and female. It was clear during the many conversations who was saying what.

Psychic Dreams is the third book in the Glimmer Lake trilogy. However, I think it can work as a standalone title too. I must admit that certain scenes in this one chilled me to the bone. Forest fires are terrifying however add vengeful ghosts into the mix and my adrenaline was pumping.

Psychic Dreams could be view as a coming-of-age story for older, independent, capable women. There's a generous helping of banter, humour and realistic issues for the over 40s within a rather spooky paranormal mystery.

I'd recommend Psychic Dreams to readers who enjoy stories about finding our path and place in life. The value of strong, healthy friendships and stories that champion not being afraid of change and moving on.

There's an excerpt from Runaway Fate, the first book in a new series by Elizabeth Hunter in the same paranormal women's fiction genre. I can't wait to read/listen to it.

Love this Series

I have totally enjoyed this series, and am sad to see it end.
I like Robin, Monica and Val and all their men. I really appreciate how the men are demonized like some of the other over 40 series.

I've re listened to all three books several times.
Ava Lucas is a great narrator,

and I think there is another series coming from this series. Can't wait for that

Midlife fire

After losing her husband 4 years previously, Monica and her 2 BFF's are attempting to navigate their new superpowers, after a near death experience. She has her 4 children and she's an empty nester, but she's building a business and considering getting back into the dating line of fire - and then she meets the newest member of their community.

Ava Lucas does a wonderful job at narrating and giving personality to each character portrayed.

I loved this series. It kept me captivated and I hated having to stop listening when my hubby talked to me. I really enjoy Ava Lucas narrating and hope to hear more from her. Elizabeth Hunter did a great job with this looking forward to reading more of her series.

Great ending to the series

This series has been amazing. Love the characters so well developed, interesting, funny, smart and strong. The world building of Glimmer Lake was fantastic.
I think what I enjoyed the most about the books was the incredible bond between the women and their friendship. How it meant so much for them going through the difficult things in your life as you get older…kids, them leaving the nest, death, changes in marriages and relationships, changes in themselves.
The suspense brought was amazing and how the twists and turns happen. The author has dealt with tough topics such domestic violence and child abuse and shown a trauma informed way of developing the topics.
Just loved this series so much. Hopefully Moonstone Cove will be just as good.

Such a good, satisfying end to a great trilogy!

Oh, Monica! I really enjoyed the finally installment of the Glimmer Lake trilogy series. Monica and her friends, Val and Robin, had a car accident where they all emerged with paranormal abilities. Monica's gift is that she began to see visions in her dreams, basically prophesies of the future. Her visions were always very dream-like, though, and she needed the help of her friends to interpret them and to work out what steps to take and how to best move forward. She is also still dealing with the sudden loss of her husband Gil, only 4 years earlier, to a heart attack, and the entry of a new man into her life, fire inspector Gabriel Peralta. There are so many heavy topics in this story -- teen pregnancy, grief, family alienation, adult child/parent relationships, small-town gossip, and the power of the chosen family. I truly cried during this book and was sorry to have it end, but in a good way. Well done, Elizabeth Hunter and Ava Lucas!

Incredible series. Fun and fantasy without a lot of silly stuff. I hope the Author does more with these 3 women within in her writing.

Enjoyed it!

Of the three in this series, this one was my least favorite... something made me identify more closely with the other two friends. But even though this one wasn't quite as good as the first two, it still was charming and delightful. I love the narrator -- she always has just the right tone in her voice. And the hints of romance are fun too. I recommend the series!
