Summary

God doesn't demand hectic church programs and frenetic schedules; he only wants his people to know him more intimately, says top-selling author D. A. Carson. The apostle Paul found that spiritual closeness in his own fellowship with the Father. By following Paul's example, we can do the same. This book calls believers to reject superficiality and revolutionize their lives by embracing a God-guided approach to prayer.

Previously published as A Call to Spiritual Reformation, this book has now been updated to connect more effectively with contemporary listeners. A study guide, DVD, and leader's kit for the book are available through Lifeway and The Gospel Coalition.

I sat at the feet of Don Carson

thirty five years ago at Eden Baptist. He has got even better. Not much, but that's because he was already very mature then.

Insightful, transforming and instructional and of course thought provoking

I have been deeply moved by Dr Carsons practical and helpful exposition of Pauls prayers. My only criticism is I couldn't get this in digital format on Kindle and went to another well known digital Christian format to download the book for further prayer and study. I perceive that this is not only a helpful listen but a book that needs deep thought and slow meditation , it's truths are well worth the effort . Perhaps in a year's time I shall come back to this review and share some lessons Ive learned in practice. My advice if you are serious about prayer is to taste and see

I bought the physical book it was so good

An enjoyable read.. listen.

This provided me with deeper insights about myself and the bible.

I’m going to implement the ways that Paul (and other members) pray, using the structures explained

There were many points that I clipped, much to integrate in my life. I really found this book gripping and just… full. It was packed with knowledge, scripture, wonder, fantastic teaching etc.

Very good.

Hard going.

A lot of good tips but many obvious ones. Rather long and drawn out. Still glad I read it as Carson is a good writer.
