A chilling note predicting the deaths of six people is found in a school's time capsule, 10 years after it was buried. But surely, if a 13-year-old wrote it, it can't be a real threat.... Detective Huldar suspects he's been given the investigation simply to keep him away from real police work. He turns to psychologist Freyja to help understand the child who hid the message. Soon, however, they find themselves at the heart of another shocking case.

Together with her one-year-old daughter, Maja, single mother Sofie Lund moves into the house she inherited from her grandfather. Sofie has such painful memories that she has had every trace of the old man removed - every trace but a locked safe that has been bolted to the basement floor.
Inside the safe Sofie finds something shocking that will also become crucial evidence in a case that has plagued Inspector William Wisting for a long time. To follow this lead, though, he must cut across important loyalties and undermine confidence in the police force.

quite a good book,
this book was no littery masterpiece, but it was entertaining, I would buy books by this author again. At first the narration does not seem very good, but if you stick with for a little while you will become a fan of Saul Riechlin and the gentle way he tells the story

Another very enjoyable book!
A very enjoyable book which continues well with the previous ones in the series. Saul Reichlin once again is a great narrator, but the only thing that detracts a little from the audiobook narration, is his use of Swedish pronunciation of some Norwegian words. In earlier books he correctly used the Norwegian pronunciation for names ending in 'g' such as Borg and Berg using a hard G - as in 'iceberg' but in this book, he has started to pronounce words that end in 'g' - for instance Berg - as 'Berrie' (or as close to that sound in English). Whilst this probably would not detract for most listeners who speak neither Norwegian or Swedish, it is a little off-putting if you do. Overall though, a good listen, well read. I hope that Saul will be asked to narrate all the Jørn Lier Horst books (including those already narrated by others if possible!)

Enjoyable series
I’ve read and listened to this series, the only problem for me is the narration of the audiobooks, I love this narrator and I couldn’t do it, but the woman generally sound a little dim or on the verge of hysterics! Still worth listening to as I get used to it.

Spoiled by the reader
I wish there was a different reader. Saul Reichlin would make a wonderful children’s book reader, but a thriller narrated by him sounds childish and naive, with male characters coming out dumb and female characters with an invariably weak voice. I had to switch to reading the text version in order to approach it as an actual adults’ book!

Superb introduction to a new to me author
I really enjoyed this book, The characters were good to get to know - I was a little bit nonplussed by some of the reactions of the ladies - (If I found something I didn't like the look of I would want to pass the buck to the police), so their reluctance didn't gel with me. However apart from this minor point - I found the story excellent, well written and really difficult to put down.
I love Saul Reichlin and the way he puts life into the characters. Yes a very good purchase!

It is OK
This book 's strength is in the unraveling of police procedural errors. Too many unsavory characters involved in the ugly life of crime are less than interesting for my taste. Bit it is a good detective story.

Boring, predictable and pedantic
I am a fan of the narrator. He did a great job in the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, but he really didn't have much to work with here. The book is a "procedural" and it is just that. All process no substance or suspense.
