Summary

When she came to Detroit, Isabella “Izzy” Sage was looking for answers about the death of her parents, who were killed while doing the very job she’s about to take on: managing the death gate - a border between the living and the dead, located on Belle Isle. What she found was a sense of family, a little romance, and a whole lot of adventure.

Join Izzy and her new friends, the Grimlocks, as they tackle a myriad of monsters and search for the truth about what happened to Izzy’s parents when something terrible crossed over from another world and upended Izzy’s life, when she was just a child. The laughter, love, and danger are nonstop.

This omnibus includes the first three titles in the Death Gate supernatural thriller series: Only the Lonely, Only the Quiet, and Only the Lost.

Another series that came up in recommendations and I’m so glad I took a chance and bought them.

Fantastic story

Don't usually write reviews but just loved this set of books. Loved that previous characters pop up throughout these stories. Great way to spend Lockdown. Think this is my new favourite Amanda M Lee series so far. That says a lot as I have most of her work on Audible.

Not for me

The Grimlock magic does not transfer to this series. I bought this set because I enjoyed the first Grimlock series and wanted to give this new series a try. However, the new characters aren't very interesting and I can't get into the story.

Ashling Ashling Ashling!!!

Love the weirdness and the characters. I want an omelet bar and an ice cream bar!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars for performance instead of 5 is because Aisling is pronounced Ashling. In Only The Lonely Aisling's name is in almost every third sentence.AAAAGGGGGHHH. Sorry, I'm okay now.

Can’t stand the performance.

I suffered through the first story, cringed through the second, and skipped through the third. This narrator does not do male voices well. Brayden sounds like a prepubescent boy. The stories rely too heavily on the Grimlocks. It just didn’t hold my interest. I tried going back a few times but instead of being different and “campy” it came across as pre-teen. Maybe all these books are getting too formulaic. Same personalities different names, plots resemble one another, and it’s too much of the same thing.

Aiden is NOT a stoner

the narrater did well with many voices but Aiden sounds like a stoner in the story. Why is his voice so lackluster?

I can’t listen anymore

Like others I was pulled in by the cover art “amazing “ however this series sucks hard. I made it through the first book hoping the writing and dialogue would get better but it did not. The story line when it was about the gimmick family was ok. But the books just went on and on about this family. The daughter is horrific. An adult acting as if she is the bratty 12 year old. The father who thinks it is ok for her to act this way while she is married and has a baby. No one willing to tell her to grow the F up. And why does the author feel the need to spell everything out for the reader? What are we 4.

So creative

How fun to have a new kind of magic! And of course, I love it that the Grimlocks are in the thick of it all.
