Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

A gripping Jack Reacher thriller from the number one best-selling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child.

Gerrardsville, Colorado. One tragic event. Two witnesses. Two conflicting accounts. One witness sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus—clearly suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. And he sees what really happened—a man in grey hoodie and jeans, swift and silent as a shadow, pushed the victim to her death, before grabbing her bag and sauntering away.

Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that this was no random act of violence. It is part of something much bigger...a sinister, secret conspiracy, with powerful people on the take, enmeshed in an elaborate plot that leaves no room for error. If any step is compromised, the threat will have to be quickly and permanently removed.

But when the threat is Reacher, there is no plan B....

Narration is boring

Listening to the narrator put me right off of the book. All of the villains sounded the same like stupid yokels from the sticks.
Please do better.

Incredibly gr8 and exhilarating

I like every inch of the book and the performance. It made me listen to more audiobooks, Jeff Harding made me see the thriller not hearing it only.

Not the best but we still enjoyable❗️

Compared to the best of Reacher past, the story seemed a bit mechanical, lacking real threat and tension, Most of the weakness was in the last quarter of the story.

Great story, great performance

Another great Jack Reacher story that unfolds chapter by chapter. I really enjoyed listening to it.

Moments of vintage Reacher

A story whth three or four interweaving narratives that take time to reveal how they connect - nicely done. Has the effortless relaxedness of later Reacher, hitting the groove after an uneven last two with the AC transition. But the end loses this joy - working technically but not emotionally. Still too many people who don't care about murder makes it all feel too cartoony somehow - reacher knocks out about 100 people like a video game - and again no thought to police reaction to all the bodies with this massive bodycount, and the last part of the book is a bit too linear and unsurprising. Still gets 4 because I love Reacher and Jeff Harding is as good as ever, but I miss the perfection of the earlier LC era books.

Nowhere near his usual standard

Really didn’t enjoy this. Poor storyline, that failed to grip me. What next for Reacher? Is he running out of storylines?

Hate the voice

But the story was good. The usual Jack Reacher. He’s not as harsh a character as the voice makes out. The reader grated on the nerves.

Not up to the usual standard

Unfortunately this latest book didn’t grab me like most of the previous ones.
The last couple of chapters seemed rushed and all of the storyline around breaking into and out of the prison seemed simplistic and unbelievable, along with the C-wing activities.
Some details, like the relevance of the car maintenance log, seem to have been lost in the storyline.
As usual, the narration is excellent, it’s just a pity that the plot and details weren’t a little bit simpler and more believable.
