Summary

Joon chose homelessness over foster care. Can she survive the harsh life of the seedy city streets?

(The Home Street Home series is a collection of stand-alone novels.)

Eight-year-old Joon has no time to grieve her parents’ sudden death. Ripped from the security of a loving family, she endures horrific abuse in a system intended to protect her. After four years of torture and her foster brother’s attempt to steal her innocence, she runs away to Philadelphia’s poverty-stricken streets.

Coming of age while homeless, Joon must fight just to stay alive. Despite the danger and desperation that surrounds her, she clings to her dream of offering the world something positive. But kind acts don’t put food in her belly as she searches for love and a place to call home.

Never Be Alone is a stand-alone dark psychological thriller. If you are looking for courageous characters, an edgy story, and a heartbreaking true-to-life tale, then you need to listen to this audiobook.

Warning: 18+ listeners only. Graphic content and subject matter.

Praise for Never Be Alone

"Joon goes from one nightmare to the next but keeping her soul good is a masterclass in storytelling. Dearth's style is like a street VC Andrews with all the drama. Her characters are well drawn and deeply felt. When I close my eyes, I can see them vividly emerge from the darkness." (The Literary License Podcast)

Fantastic book, great narration literally couldn’t stop listening. Was hard to listen to at some points but if you can get past those parts you’ll really enjoy this book.

Good but dark

This book to me was very good! It was very very dark but the sad thing is this kind of thing happens all around the world. Paige is one of my favorite writers a she hasn’t let me down yet. The narrator did a great job too.

Good but...

I normally don't go for heart warming type stories and the more it went on the more it sounded like a public service announcement. A few chapters were torture to get through again only because it isn't something I normally read. It was a really good book overall though.

Brilliant!

This is definitely a must read book! From beginning to end the story of the broken system, in which all of these innocent children are being forced into shines through. What a wonderful story, though! The narrator was amazing as well!

Audible

Listened to this book on Audible and loved it. I’m so sad that this author has no other titles on audio. Reading books is not as enjoyable for me anymore Audible fills the empty spot for me.

Great Narrator!

I enjoyed listening to this audio because of the narrator. Her work with this was awesome! loved how she had a distinct voice for each character and held the same voice for each character from start to finish
