Summary
If you are an adult child of a narcissistic mother, this audiobook is for you. If you are not sure whether your abusive mother is a pathological narcissist, you will find out.
The issue of toxic mothers challenges the status quo in so many ways but does need to be addressed. Adult children of narcissistic parents are often plagued with so much guilt and a sense of deep obligation and shame that they feel duty-bound to keep whatever happened in the family secret, even when it is shredding their lives. It’s really difficult to share your experience because narcissists and especially a narcissistic mother can be very good at creating the perfect image of the family for outsiders.
If you listen to this book:
- You will become aware of all the reasons why your childhood was so traumatic.
- You will learn how to deal with your narcissistic mother without being his victim any longer.
- You will find out all the dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors that you have developed over the years.
- You will start healing from the symptoms of Complex Traumatic Stress Disorder, a typical disorder affecting adult children of narcissistic parents, even if psychotherapy is required.
The solution is not forgiving or forgetting, but understanding and working on your self-development, and finally taking back control of your life.

Brilliant!!
The Author is completely on point! This is the first time I could really understand who my mother is and I know now it wasn’t me! I’m not the crazy one.

WOW
I’m not crazy. I’m not a bad daughter. I didn’t imagine everything. I am not alone. 85% of this book resonated 100% with me. (The other 15% was dealing with a son, so 🤷🏼♀️) I walked around the house cleaning, listening to this and saying out loud, “Yup! Absolutely! Holy cow YES!” And I listened to it at a time that was definitely needed! If you are, especially an adult child, that has moved and has guilt, because you’ve always felt you were never good enough with what you’ve gone through, this is absolutely the book for you.

Disappointing
This was a good introduction into narcissists, but I was very disappointed in the approach to ptsd at the end, it was so brief as to seem flippant and irresponsible and should not have been included in the book. ptsd is deep and complex subject that cannot be treated with a chapter's worth of advice.

Overdue Healing
As a person that was born into a narcissistic household, I am grateful for this book which has given me tangible tools to reparent myself, accept that my mother is incapable of the love I’ve seemed and to move forward in a healthy way. This is a must read!

Too fast
I found the content useful, but it was read to quickly. It was difficult to digest information in time before the next sentence.

Understanding begins healing
This book is a very helpful read for those healing from Narcissistic Mothers. At times a little over generalizing. It offers a great deal of information to understand and tips to heal. Best read in conjunction with therapy, as it has the potential to bring a lot to the surface.
