Summary
"Wickedly charming, flirty, and clever. This is the ultimate friends to lovers story. I loved it!" (Becky Monson, number-one best-selling author of the Spinster series)
"You'll want to crawl between the covers of this book and never leave." (Whitney Dineen, number-one best-selling author of Relatively Normal)
Loveless is more than a name, it's a curse.
I, Emma Loveless, have a destiny. It's not the greatest of destinies, but when you have a name like Loveless, what can you do? I'm cursed to always be the friend, never the girlfriend. Unless you count my love affair with Duncan Hines, Dr. Pepper, and the ever-lovable Pillsbury Doughboy. They've seen me through it all, but a girl needs more than refined sugar to curl up to every night. It doesn't help that I have a meddling, albeit wonderful, mother who can't help playing matchmaker. Thanks to her, I can say I've been on a date with a felon. Now she swears she's found the one for me, her new optometrist, Dr. Sawyer King. Meanwhile, I'm preparing for the inevitable restraining order. That is, until I meet the sexy doctor and have to admit my mother is right - love at first sight does exist.
Unfortunately, my last name means business. Not only do I find myself in the friend zone, but also the twilight zone. Only in my world would Mr. Right turn into my stepbrother. To top it off, he brings with him a wicked stepmother who will do anything to keep us apart. Despite all this my heart - or is that my mom? - keeps telling me Sawyer is the one. But what if true love isn't strong enough to interfere with my destiny? It'll be me and the Doughboy...for eternity.

Well written and narrated.
This was such a fun listen. Em and her group of friends were so supportive and funny. While I knew that I was picking up a romance novel, I was pleasantly surprised by the other characters stories and how they were woven throughout the story. I loved Emma's snark and her inner monologues.
Melissa Moran did a sterling job with the narration. The voices were consistent and she has great comedic delivery.

A Good Story!
I liked the story, but it's not as good as "Trouble in Loveland" nor "The Sidelined Wife" (my favorite). I especially enjoyed the fact that it was a clean romance. This type of interesting, well written, clean storytelling is getting harder and harder to find. My hats off to you Ms. Peel. Keep them coming. Also, please put the rest of this series on Audible.

Beautiful Slow Burn Story!
This was my first Jennifer Peel's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the My Not So Wicked Series. This slow burn story is fun, emotional, and beautiful. Emma Loveless and Sawyer King are great characters. I love their slow, really slow burn story, and their happy ending. This was a beautiful journey to love. Melissa Moran did an amazing job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, and all the voices were easy to distinguish. I enjoyed my listening. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review. #AudiobookWorm

An excellent listen with a great vibe.
My favourite things about Jennifer Peel books is that they always have strong characters and an ending that makes you smile. My Not So Wicked Stepbrother is no exception.
Emma Loveless is a fun loving, sarcastic, well developed character. She makes you laugh and smile all through the book, even through the sad parts. She seems like the kind of woman that you want to be friends with.
Sawyer is my kind of guy, I would love to have someone who was willing to split meals with me when we went out to eat. That would be my dream date.
The journey that these two take to get together in the end is filled with issues and problems and some self deprecation on Emma's part. But you root for them all the way.
Melissa Moran was an awesome narrator, my very favourite was when she was doing Shelby's dialogue. I would love to listen to another book narrated by Moran and may seek some out for my next road trip.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jennifer Peel. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Pleasantly surprised.
In all honesty I was not sure about this book at first given the title My not so wicked step-brother. I wasn't sure if it was going to be weird...I mean falling for your step-brother makes a challenging love story; however, given the back story of how they met and became step siblings as adults definitely made it less awkward. I mean there were still some awkward moments but the step brother title never suited their relationship. Also, I loved Emma's relationship with her mother and how much she cared for her family and even when she felt "Loveless". You could truly feel her pain from losing her mother, it was heartbreaking but yet comforting to feel her mother's presence throughout the story.

GOOD CLEAN FUN.. with a side-order of angst
This book was truly truly wicked.. wickedly fun, wickedly light, wickedly entertaining and wickedly emotional too as Emma’s lengthy journey from friends to lovers brought out so many wickedly conflicting feels. I loved her quirky relatable character, I wanted to sit her down in front of a mirror and show her how beautiful she truly was both inside and out and I felt for her during the sad times, the challenges and the unrequited love she had for swoon-worthy Sawyer. I also got, shared and could probably one-up her love for all things sweet and deliciously bad for your waistline too. However, I also wanted to knock both their heads together hoping that’d shock some sense into these two best friends because they drove me nuts at times.
Worth a credit? It was a sweet, sex and swear free, fun-based slow-burn that built and built until it’s final chapters, it was nicely told from Emma’s compassionate and loving PoV, it had angst, drama, strained family dynamics and was packed throughout with fun banter and lol humor.. and yes, IMO, it’s worth a credit. Loved the yummy cover image too.
