As if he doesn't have enough to handle between running outlaws out of Cheyenne, keeping his brothers out of trouble, and avenging his father's death, Sheriff Sawyer McCade's meddling mother just dumped a mysterious mail-order bride on his doorstep. One woman can be more trouble than a band of renegades, and while this one has him all stirred up, he'd rather get to the bottom of the story she isn't telling. Rose Parker had it all - until a web of danger and deceit sends her running to Cheyenne posing as a mail-order bride. Escaping the evils of New York seems sensible until she meets the unsuspecting sheriff who didn't ask for her, has no intention of marrying her, and won't rest until he uncovers her secret and sends her back home.

Summary
The first three novels in the series that critics describe as "a wonderful blend of hope, passion, romance, and humor."
Westward Winds
Tessa O'Connor lives in a world of privilege and excess. Her doting parents want her to make a good match with a worthy gentleman and live a respectable life. She is beautiful and intelligent and she comes with a hefty dowry. There is no reason that she shouldn't be able to find an eligible man and settle down.
Tessa gets married to Dean and they struggle to find common ground and make their marriage work. Will they each take the risk and open their hearts to one another? Can their marriage survive, and will they find love and contentment in each other?
Westward Dance
Madelyn O'Connor is beautiful, popular, and comfortable with her opulent life. That is until she is brutally attacked by the son of one of the wealthiest families in Pittsburgh. Her parents are ready to fight the case out in the courts, but Madelyn doesn't want any publicity about it. She wants to forget that it ever happened, but can't.
Seth Samuels, Tessa's brother-in-law, becomes injured when he and his men are attacked by wild dogs on a cattle drive. He's morose and anxious over the prospect of not being able to participate in drives any longer. Tessa sees two people she loves hurting and thinks that maybe they can help each other when no one else can. She appeals to Seth to help convince Madelyn to come west. Seth refuses at first, but then figures that since he can't do much else, he might as well try to help.
Westward Bound
Claire O'Connor is the youngest of the three O'Connor sisters. Unlike her older siblings, Claire doesn't have great skills in social niceties. Even though she tries to fit in, Claire will never be popular in the elite world in which she was born. Claire would much rather be in school or learning business strategy from her father than do anything else. When she travels to Montana for her sister Maddie's wedding to Seth Samuels, she meets the youngest Samuels brother, Marcus.
She's attracted to his dark good looks and flashing gray eyes, but knows he thinks of her as an annoying kid who happens to be extremely intelligent. During the time she spends in Montana, she and Marcus develop an antagonistic relationship, which Claire purposely fosters to hide her crush on him. She dreams of snaring Marcus' heart one day, and begins her secret mission as soon as she arrives back in Pittsburgh.

Frustrating story (Book 1)
Full disclosure, I only listened to Book 1. The narrator did a tremendous job, which is why the performance gets five stars. The writing itself is also skillful. But where this book falls down badly in my opinion is the story and the main characters, specifically the heroine. I found Tessa self-centred and closed-minded. The entire premise and conflict of the story is based on her petulant and unjustifiable actions. She runs away from home to marry a stranger because she doesn't want to attend parties. She lies to her family but is relentlessly angry with her new husband because he needed help to write letters to her.
I do not understand why every sane adult in the story condones her warped thinking and props up her point of view as though it makes any sense. It got to the point where I was rolling my eyes at Tessa's words and wishing poor Dean could just get an annulment and get some peace back in his life. Instead, the couple's disagreement went on and and on and the author tries to magnify Dean's problems so they seem as big as Tessa's. In truth, Tessa should have removed the plank from her own eye before going nuclear about the speck in Dean's.
Since the whole story is about how an unlikeable character gets further entrenched in her wrongheaded attitude, I rated it one star. I need to like or at least empathise with a main character in order to enjoy a story. I won't carry on with the series because I have doubts about whether the same issues will plague the books.

Enjoyable start to a wonderful historical series
I have really enjoyed listening to this series. While each book is a standalone story, there is a certain pleasure in reading the books in order. Each additional story includes characters mentioned previously, allowing you to revisit with them and find out how their lives have progressed. These three books are the first three in the series focusing on the three Samuels brothers and the three O'Connor sisters. It touches softly upon some of the very real challenges faced by people living in Pennsylvania and Montana at the time including education and work for women, illness, death, childbirth, ranch life, and so on. If you enjoy historical western romances, this is your cup of tea.

He said, she said.
Wonderful story. If I was reading it I could skim over all the uses of character “said” parts but because it an audio and the narrator reads the book verbatim it is hard to ignore. The author has a wonderful story but I wish the editor had caught the issues before publishing. After ever quote it states “Sarah said” or “Dean said” or “Marcus said”. Drove me crazy listening to conversations. Why not use “he replied” or “she asked” or “he suggested” to very it up a little.

Romance and Excitement In Every Chapter !
Would you listen to Montana Mail Order Bride Box Set again? Why?
I absolutely want to listen to this Box Set again because it was so fulfilling and romantic! It satisfied every emotion a listener looks for in a good book: Romance, mystery, tenderness and much more is told with such amazing narration by J. Scott Bennett. Since there are three stories in this set of books, the listener gets many hours of happy listening.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The book starts out with the story of Tessa who is the oldest daughter in her family of three sisters. She has been brought up in a high-society family with money and is used to all of the best things in life. She has a yearning for something more "real" in her life and decides to go out on her own and find what she wants. She sets off to find a man who can love her for who she is inside. She also paves the way for her two sisters to do the same thing. Each sister has her own unique story to tell. This is a wonderful story about two families who come together.
Which character – as performed by J. Scott Bennett – was your favorite?
J. Scott Bennet has the voice of a true western cowboy! I loved his portrayal of Dean, the oldest of 3 brothers in Montana. Listening to the narrations brings the listener into the story and I could imagine myself sitting on the front porch talking with Tessa and Dean and discussing family events.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Since this was such a long story, I couldn't have listened to it in one sitting, but I certainly must have set a record for how quickly I completed this trilogy. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. I plan on re-listening to this entire book very soon !
Any additional comments?
I was given this audio book in exchange for an honest review and I am extremely grateful to J. Scott Bennet for allowing me the pleasure of hearing his sexy and sultry voice once again. He knows how to tell a great story !!

Good conclusion
If you could sum up Montana Mail Order Bride Box Set in three words, what would they be?
Dialogue, Diverse, Honest
What other book might you compare Montana Mail Order Bride Box Set to and why?
The Whisperers: A Three Book Box Set by Ciana Stone both have three siblings who fall in love with three other siblings in a western setting.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
In Westward Winds, Tessa and Dean have a problem with communication but they put the effort in and eventually come to an understanding. It’s frustrating to see them arguing but very satisfying to see them work it out.

Montana Mail Order Brides
Any additional comments?
Entertaining, enjoyable and humorous sweet romances. This collection includes the first three books in the Montana Mail Order Bride series.
Having the first three books together in one collection is wonderful. The combination of Linda Bridey's stories and J. Scott Bennett's narration make these historical western romances worth your time.
Even though each of the stories follows the same basic premise each one is unique and very enjoyable. The stories follow the Samuels brothers as they each find their HEA. I ended up listening to the series out of order but that did not hinder the enjoyment of any of the books. Book 3, Marcus and Claire is still my favorite, I enjoyed listening to it again.
J. Scott Bennett does the narration for the series. He does a fantastic job. Great character voices. Clearly spoken with a smooth even pace. He has one of those voices that is very easy to listen to. His narration brings the story and characters to life. You are never disappointed when listening to a book he is narrating.
