Summary
God would indeed answer the prayer of the fiery, red-haired woman from Scotland. For 39 years, Mary Slessor would labor in love among the unreached, often treacherous, tribes of Africa's Calabar region. Braving sickness, danger, and death on all sides, Mary became the cherished "White Ma" to entire tribes. Her faith, steadfastness, and pioneering spirit brought her beloved adopted people their first brilliant, contrasting example of the life and freedom found in Jesus Christ. Mary Slessor's story in an ageless epic of a woman who would stop at nothing to reach the lost with the life-giving gospel of Christ. (1848-1915).

What a great memoir!
I really enjoyed this book. As an African, I could relate to some of the traditions but was still shocked by what people you used to live like. Mary was surely a great hero and an inspiration to all of us reading her story over 100years later

Forward March
Mary Slessor endured sickness, frustration, sadness, bullying, and torture in her lifetime. She stood strong in the face of danger.

f Fantastic and inspiring
My 10 year old says this is her favorite all time story. The narrator was great and the story was well told and inspiring. There are some parts that were difficult emotionally and I would not recommend this for families with attentive younger children. My 8, 4, and 2 year olds did not pay attention, but this would have been too much had they been listening.

Great story!
This story was inspiring and a delightful listen. The life of Mary is full of ups and downs, far away adventures and still relatable to my life. The author has a lovely voice and was able to put a lot of life into her reading. Loved the accents she does. Overall I highly recommend this!

Amazing Faith followed by amazing action
This woman stepped out in faith to the point of risking her life over and over again because she put her trust completely in God. She didn’t let death of loved ones, malaria multiple times, or anything else deter her from sharing the Gospel with a primitive, dangerous culture in Africa. Her story is truly humbling and inspiring.

Incredible true story of one woman's commitment and courage to share Christ with those who others ignored. She knew the love of Christ and His love compelled her to go forward into uncharted territory. (2Corinthians 5:14) May I have the courage to follow Christ like she did.
