Summary

Unter der Eisenbahnbrücke an der Liesenstraße liegt die Leiche eines SA-Mannes. Kommissar Gereon Rath und sein früherer Kollege Reinhold Gräf, nun für die Geheime Staatspolizei tätig, bilden eine Sonderkommission.

Während Gräf von einem politischen Mord ausgeht, ermittelt Rath in eine andere Richtung. Er entdeckt Verbindungen zum zerschlagenen Ringverein "Nordpiraten", der seine kriminellen Aktivitäten als SA-Sturm getarnt fortsetzt. Als ein zweiter SA-Mann erschlagen aufgefunden wird, scheint alles auf eine Mordserie zu deuten. Eine Spur führt in den seit Kurzem geschlossenen Lunapark und Rath fragt sich, welche Rolle Unterweltboss Johann Marlow, ein Erzfeind der "Nordpiraten", in diesem Fall spielt.

Eine von den besten bis jetzt.

As an American, hearing this books has been great in keeping up with my German. I've also learned one or two umgangs spruche to this point. I've liked how Gereon has evolved as well and Charly, and I'm excited and nervous for what happens to them in the next few books. This book set the stage for some different conflict in the future.

In this book, there were enough plot hooks to keep me engaged and I found myself really looking forward to the times where I could listen and dive into the interesting, but stressful world of Gereon Rath's Berlin.
