Annoying monotone voice but nice book

To love openly and to choose to open our heart when all we want to do is revert to a strategy, like running away or being passive aggressive, is the bravest thing. I enjoyed the content of this book but I found the voice hard to listen to sometimes because it didn’t sound human. My biggest takeaway from it is that rewiring patterns from childhood is gonna be lifelong, but with each time I choose self-compassion and pause before I react, I won’t have to be stuck repeating childhood patterns forever, and the healing that will happen on the other side of being brave is worth pushing past the fear.

Did not enjoy the narration

The narrator was really bad.
She sounded so bored and fake. Like she didn't really care about the subject matter but was pretending to care.

That narration though...

The content is really good. It highlights many researches themes that I have read or heard by other reputable sources. The activities give you an opportunity to put the information into practice. I liked the content so much I ordered a hard copy too. But.... the narration is just bad. I enjoy a good book in tape and know that a person's tone and inflection can mean everything for how the information is received. This one was almost too much for me. If I weren't so into learning the crux of the topic, I never would have made it past the forward.

I wish I knew about this book before now!

We are never born with the necessary skills to make a relationship work, so it is either trial and error, or learning, hard work, and open communication.. This book is a great resource to listen/read.. I highly recommend this book for any healthy relationship seeker..

Wonderful

This is one of the only books I’ve been able to listen to all the way through. I love the perspective and the way that book is laid out. I also printed out all the worksheets available online and used them as I was listening. These tips and tricks can be used for all intrapersonal relationships. Not just romantic ones great read over all

Did Siri actually narrate this book?

I cannot hang with this narrators diction. She sounds like Siri and pauses in the wrong spots. Hopefully, the paper version will be better.

A must read for anyone committing to relationship

I wish I read this book in my twenties. Now in my forties it helps me find affirmation and words for lessons learned through my own experiences. It also helps me find new solutions and answers. I love how it offers a positive attitude and perspective of turning roadblocks in relationship into stepping stones.

I just wish these books existed 20 years ago and were made compulsory at school.

Wish I had this as a young adult! Holistic

Fabulous, helpful. practical and unassumingly profound. The narrator wasn't the best. Might want to buy the book to refer back to.

Bad Narrator

Previous reviews about this narrator not being good is true. I feel like I couldn’t pay attention. Her tone and expressions seem bluh & not genuine. This book was recommended to me by a therapist & I feel like I didn’t get anything out of it. I would recommend buying a hard copy of the book & reading it yourself. The author has good info which I feel I missed because of the narrator.
