Summary

London 1913.

The shop girls of Harpers Emporium on Oxford Street are happy in their work, and their lives are moving on at quite a pace.

United by the suffragette cause and now living under one roof, some will find love and marriage whilst others experience heartache and tears.

Harpers is the bond that holds them together, bringing strength through hardship and pain and friendship and love.

Disappointed

Struggled to finish, dull and predictable, didn't need to be CONSTANTLY told of items being sold. Not a good read at all for me.

Great story

I loved this book. I got swept along in the story, picturing the dialogue as it went along. I’ve got hooked with this series. Thank you Audible.

love it

Absolutely loving this series. I like historical novels that take you away from the modern world for a while. Not that it's all sweetness and light, it is full of real life and struggles. I hate spoilers so I'm not going to say any more other than, if you liked Call The Midwife, you'll probably love this too.

Delightful continuing story

Perfect listen while working in my art journal. I am attached to all the characters and finding out the next events occurring in their lives. The narrator is perfect for setting the tone and differences between the characters without being over the top. Excited to continue listening to trials and triumphs of the Harper girls and friends and family.

Clean, engaging romance

Nicely read. Enjoyed the story line, which seemed true to the time period and location in which the story was set.

Eye Roll Here

I liked the first book well enough. But this book was poorly written. The author repeated information over and over, seemingly believing the reader hadn't heard her the first time or the third time. Dialogue from one scene to another was inconsistent. Picking up in a new direction not indicated by the previous discussion.

Tedious is a good way to describe the writing.

Covers many women's rights issues still relevant

I wish I could give the book a 4.5. The characters are likeable and engaging. The women's rights issues are increasingly relevant in the US, to the point at which I snorted aloud when one of the characters postulated that it must be better in America (maybe then).

I overall enjoyed it, but it should have trigger warnings for domestic abuse, attempted rape, and pregnancy loss.

engaging in heartwarming

it's almost like listening to an old radio story. I don't even want to watch television I just want to know what's going to happen next as I listen to my story. I'm highly addicted to the lives of these girls and wonder what's going to happen next.
