Summary

Brand-new from the USA Today best-selling author of The Old Girls' Network. It’s always a good time for a road trip....

When 82-year-old Lil decides to book herself, her 65-year-old daughter, Cassie, and her friend Maggie on a bus trip across Europe, she hopes for a little adventure to counteract the monotony of life.

Along with three members of the Salterley Tennis Club and the Jolly Weaver football team, whose ideas of a good time are rather different to Lil’s and strikingly at odds with each other’s, the merry band of travellers set out on their great adventure.

From moving moments on the beaches of Normandy, outrageous adventures in Amsterdam, to the beauty of Bruges and gastronomic delights of France, the holiday is just the tonic Lil, Maggie and Cassie needed.

And as the time approaches for them to head home, Lil makes an unexpected discovery - even in her advancing years, men are like buses - there isn’t one for ages then two come along at once. Is Lil ready to share her golden years, and can the ladies embrace the fresh starts that the trip has given them. Or is it just too late to change....

Judy Leigh is back with her trademark promise of laughter, happiness, friendship, and timeless lessons in how to live.

not my best

very average book. not much humour which is really what makes the Judy Leigh books. narrator was quite annoying with bad accents and the singing was a DEFINITE NO NO.

Could not finish

I had to give up on this one I did try for 6 hrs but found it boring and the narrator and the singing was just awful. I’ve never given a book 1 star before but I just couldn’t give it anymore.

I enjoyed this very much after a not sure about it beginning. I’m 75 and can identify with the characters, they are realistic..

A bit of a slow start but then I enjoyed it very much. Relaxing read

Enchanting.

I felt this book was absolutely delightful, very sincerely written, with a lot of thought about each character. My first book by Judy Leigh, a first class writer. I shall look forward to reading more of her books. The narrator Julie Mullen, was also first class, she read it with great feeling, a real Joy to listen to each chapter.

Nice story awful accent/character narration

Nice story but…….too many characters for 1 person to do, should have had a male narrator too to do the male parts.
Foreign accents awful especially Pete in Amsterdam.
Not keen on the singing either…..painful to listen to.

I’ve loved every single one of Judy’s that I’ve listened to so far but this one has disappointed.

Disappointed

This was the third book I had listened to by this author but I was very disappointed with the voices for the foreign characters. They were awful and completely spoilt the book for me.

No such thing as old age!

This is a very easy listen thanks to the story and the reader who brings these characters to life on their shared journey. It joyfully brings the most unlikely of people together inspite of their age differences as they travel across Europe.
