Summary

Adam Murphy wants to be a serious journalist. Unfortunately, he spends his days writing copy about underwear and abs for a gay lifestyle magazine. When a troubled young porn star brings him a tip about a recently deceased marine's secret visit to an infamous pimp for underage boys, Adam is determined to break the story... until someone starts threatening his life.

Undeterred, Adam begins to unravel a deadly conspiracy involving runaway sugar daddies, salacious A-list parties, and three handsome young men who have vanished without a trace. Now he must enter the seedy underbelly of LA to find the truth behind their disappearance, as well as the disappearance of his ex-lover, Corey - who may have some deadly secrets of his own.

In this supercharged modern noir tale of sex, drugs, and revenge from New York Times bestselling author Christopher Rice, getting to the bottom of a scandalous story can be dangerous... if not downright fatal.

J'accuse I ?

So well narrated; I'm wondering if Cole Ferguson is an AKA for Chris Patton (Adrien English) or Nick Russo.

Published in 2014 but set in the days of VHS cassettes and dial up modems, the seedy side of sexual need shows its ugly underbelly in this tale of a crusading young reporter with a dubious past: Mr Murphy and what he finds in his quest to become a serious journalist investigating what goes on in the jaccuzzis at certain Hollywood parties.

I'm wondering if this is a fictionalized expose of real events; they say truth is stranger than fiction every time.

Hints of a thriller surface with each missing boy.

GOOD

A bit far-fetched, but extremely entertaining!

Light Before Day is a far-fetched but hugely entertaining pulp detective novel set in West Hollywood. Adam is an alcoholic investigative journalist who stumbles upon a story featuring closeted marines, child porn, and plenty of murder. There are twists and turns aplenty, most of which are improbable, and the performance by Craig Ferguson really sucks you into the story. I really enjoyed Light Before Day and will be seeking out further novels by Christopher Rice.
