About this listen

It’s time to put an end to the cycle of emotional abuse and manipulation you endured as a child

You might find that most of your childhood revolved around your parents and their needs, instead of the other way around. You need to break this toxic cycle so that you can develop a nurturing, happy relationship with your kids. And it all begins with rising from the ashes of your own childhood trauma…

In Life After Emotionally Immature Parents, you will discover:

  • The five types of emotionally immature parents (and how their behavior affects children)
  • How trauma is used to emotionally bond as well as isolate a child for manipulation (think Stockholm syndrome)
  • Seven unrealistic expectations of emotionally immature parents (perhaps you’ll recognize one or two from your own experience…)
  • A clear understanding of the abuse cycle—discover the signs of emotional abuse and its cyclic pattern, along with three psychological manipulation tactics
  • How to navigate the road to recovery—acknowledge your inner child as you apply these eight practical tips to heal from your abusive childhood
  • And much more…

Detaching yourself from the emotional trauma of your childhood will give you a positive outlook toward building a healthy relationship with your kids as you rediscover a better you.

A new life awaits…without the emotional trauma.

Free yourself from the toxic cycle of abuse you endured as a child. You need this audiobook today!

Very practical

Having grown up in a family with little to no emotional intelligence, I wanted to listen to some advice about breaking free. This audible delivered and provided great insight into how to move forward and grow as a person. Highly recommended.

The end of generational trauma

We can't choose the family we were born into but we can choose how we want to respond to our trauma. In this book, Vanessa provides insights into how our relationship with our parents when we were children impact who we are as adults and how we can recover from the trauma we experienced from the parents who didn't know to be better. The book helps identify different manipulation techniques, like gaslighting, blame shifting, escape goat, etc. that someone may experience as a child, the negative effects of these actions, and how we can break the toxic cycle and be a better parent for our children. The book is comforting and reassuring--a good reminder for everyone that our emotions are valid. Even though we may internalize the blame and accept our parents' abusive behavior, it is not our fault. There are many useful information in this book that could benefit people who are looking to understand their own childhood trauma.

Letting go of the past from emotional traumas.

It’s time for a different path of my own choosing and this book has made this clear and simple. I don’t have to repeat and copy or follow how I was (mis) treated but learn and grow. I want a trauma-free relationship with my own children from the beginning. Taking the information and learning from all the help and guidance for a positive outcome.

A nice read but could be more

I enjoyed this book, but I think the topic of emotionally immature parents is wider than this book covers. Addictively religious parents are incredibly common, and it would have been good to see an understanding of the damage these families endure. The ability for parents to perpetually talk about religion and love, but to be to immature ever show love is a painful upbringing, missed completely by this book.
But a good read. We’ll done.
