Summary
L'action se passe en 1862. La Guerre de Sécession fait rage aux Etats-Unis, et Charleston, ville sudiste, est assiégée depuis des mois par les forces nordistes, et donc prête à acheter des armes et des vivres à n'importe quel prix. Le capitaine James Playfair, commerçant britannique, voit là l'occasion de s'enrichir : avec son puissant navire, le Delphin, il veut forcer le blocus du port de Charleston et livrer une cargaison d'armes aux sudistes, en échange de coton qu'il pourra revendre en Grande-Bretagne.
