Summary

This audiobook consists of lessons 16 to 25 from the Original or Classic version of the Learning Spanish Like Crazy Level 1 program (as opposed to the NEW and IMPROVED version). Learning Spanish Like Crazy will teach you how to speak authentic Latin American conversational Spanish. I have only used native Spanish-speakers in this program to make sure that you develop an authentic Latin American Spanish accent.

If you are not concerned with learning how to speak real everyday conversational Spanish, then this program is probably not for you. I understand that there are people who only want to learn enough Spanish to communicate with a hotel clerk, restaurant waiter, flight attendant, etc., in a Spanish speaking country. But there are others who want to learn enough Spanish so that they will be able to develop meaningful friendships and relationships with Spanish speakers, and improve communication with Spanish-speaking in-laws. If the latter category best describes you, then this program is for you.

The Learning Spanish Like Crazy system also puts a major emphasis on improving pronunciation. Some people have a natural ability that allows them to quickly develop native-like pronunciation. You probably know someone who is the type of person that I am referring to. We have all seen or heard someone who can imitate the voice of a famous politician, actor, singer, or other celebrity so well that you could almost be fooled into thinking that you are actually hearing the famous person speak. Unfortunately, I was not born with that talent. I had to learn certain techniques to improve my Spanish pronunciation. Those same pronunciation-enhancing techniques are incorporated in this program.

Unorganized

I'm about 1 hour into this one and I'm not sure I will continue. Complex ideas introduced in an unorganized way. They start throwing in different verb tenses at random without giving an overview. They show you how to conjugate one word in the past tense for a certain pronoun but not the others before moving on to a different tense or introducing more nouns that you are unlikely to use until much later. There's almost no space given when they ask you to say the phrase in spanish so you have to basically ride the pause button manually the whole time. Throughout this series the narrators are constantly changing leading to a "slapped together" feel.

Good overall

I really want to give closer to five stars but the speakers (especially the female) started speaking too fast too soon in the lessons. Not good for beginner learners.
