Summary

C'est un classique et pourtant cette célèbre pièce de Molière reflète bien le monde actuel. Dans une société où la compromission est indispensable au respect de l'ordre social, Alceste, le misanthrope, ne peut trouver sa place. Il plaide pour une sincérité absolue en toutes circonstances et critique avec véhémence l'hypocrisie et les politesses intéressées. Pourtant il brûle de plaire et, en premier lieu, à la coquette Célimène, même si celle-ci incarne tout ce qu'il rejette. Alors le misanthrope dénonce, crache, éructe contre toute la bêtise humaine.
