Summary

Short but good book
Short but good book
I listen to this without reading the book first and thoroughly liked it.
This is a short best friends romance book between Shawn and Dave. Shawn has always liked Dave but his straight best friend had a girlfriend, or did he.
Dave, always thought about Shawn but kept his feelings a secret as he had a girlfriend and all was good, until he was caught flirting with a guy at their local gym where his girlfriend worked and caught him.
This is a sweet book, full of hot sex and lace. Best friends to lovers books are always so good. It also has a HEA so no cliff hangers. This is a stand alone and an easy read.

Great book, ok narration
I liked the concept of the story, friends who start something after one’s secret is revealed. It is a shorter story, but there is a lot of heat in that short 3 hours of audio. My only problem was I struggled liking the narrator and his accent. Overall, good book, but if you struggle with accents, you should probably stick to the book.

Sweet Story w/Great Narration
This was a sweet story of two friends who harbored secret crushes on the other. One was an out and proud gay man, and the other recently discovered his bisexuality. 👨❤️💋👨 👨🏼🤝👨🏻
When it was discovered that Dave wasn’t the only one with secrets, their relationship made a swift shift into new territory. Things weren’t smooth sailing, as they’d hope, and misunderstandings occurred. 🤦🏼♂️ 🤷🏻♂️
This was an entertaining story that was both fun and sweet. I enjoyed the characters. 🏋️ 💇🏻♂️
Seb Yarrick is a new to me narrator. He did a great job bringing this story to life. I look forward to hearing more from him in the future. ❤️ 🎙

Shawn and Dave are best friends, Shawn is harbouring a secret crush on Dave even though he is straight. Dave arrives and says he and his girlfriend split due to his flirting with a guy, he's no and has feelings for Shawn. In the end they get together and Dave likes Shawn's lacy underwear kink. So Hot! And What a Performance By Seb Yarrick!
Okay first… that cover! Whoa, just sayin’.
Lace, the first book in K.C. Wells’ standalone A Material World series, is a sweet and delightfully kinky friends-to-lovers romance. When these buddies finally come clean about their attraction to one another, getting sweaty between the sheets just comes naturally.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K.C. Wells should write adult movies. (I know I'd watch them!) The situations these boys find themselves in, and oh YES, the dirty talk! Seriously smoking hot. And listening to it all performed by Seb Yarrick is such a treat. The way he pronounces some of his words: tongue, delicious, silk, and lace. Well you get where I'm going... simply shiver inducing, toe curlingly wonderful.
Mr. Yarrick has come up with distinct voices for each of the main characters, and they fit so perfectly with their personalities. Adorable Shawn in his lacy underthings. Gruff and manly (and slightly dommy) Dave. And Shawn’s lovely, supportive parents; I got such a kick out of the adorable voice he uses for Shawn’s mum.
These characters are well developed, and even in this short novella, their unique personalities really come out. Shawn’s playfulness with his accountant jokes, and Dave’s slightly macho retreat to the gym when he needs to sort out his emotions. Both men are so real, and they’re just great characters.
As the fun continues and the men become more intimate Shawn’s insecurity grows. Does Dave just want him for his lacy lingerie? How deep do their feelings really go? Turns out sharing their true feelings is the hard part, and it takes some real trust for them to open up with each other.
Looking ahead I see there are three more books in this series and I’ve got high hopes K.C. Wells plans to have them performed by Seb Yarrick as well. The plots sound fantastic, and I just hope I can hold out till they're available in audio!

Great characters and an interesting question
I loved Shawn and Dave both as individual characters and together. Their progess from friends to lovers was well handled and very believable. The thing I particularly liked was the exploration of Shawn's initial concern that Dave was only there because of the kink, not for his whole person. Seeing the story work itself out to allay those fears was moving. Seb Yarrick's performance was excellent. He captured all the heat, but also brought out Shawn's insecurities so you really felt them and sympathasized with him.

Lovely!
Well's Lace truly kept me interested. I found Shawn and Dave to be quite interesting and full of fun. In this friends to lovers story, I found myself engaged and absorbed in the plot. Yarrick's narration is the key to bringing this story to life for sure. I absolutely loved it.

wires keep getting crossed
Sean and Dave have been best friends for years but Sean would love them to be more....just one problem with that, Dave's straight!
Sean and David keep making the mistake of assuming things rather than talking to each other which makes for a great story. lots of heat, fun and romance, I loved it!! This is the first time I've heard Seb Yarrick narrate and he did a great job, everything was clear and concise and emotions came across brilliantly.

Best Mates make the Best Mates
There are times when I’m looking for low-angst and somewhat simple romances. Something sweet while being sexy at the same time. Often, I can turn to K.C. Wells to provide that book. In this case, she delivered.
What happens when a man has been in love with his best friend forever? Watched from the sidelines as said friend has other relationships – girlfriends in particular? Well, it can hurt, to be sure, but is it worth it to say something when you’re risking the friendship? Shawn doesn’t feel that way. He loves Dave but would never risk what they have.
Until the day Dave reveals he’s broken up with a woman he’d been seeing because she’d caught him flirting with a man.
And Shawn is like, uh, hang on a second…you’re bi???
He barely has time to recover from that shock when Dave accidentally discovers Shawn loves to wear women’s undergarments. Okay, so now Dave is seeing Shawn in a whole new light. He also wonders if risking their friendship is worth it. But man, he wants to see Shawn in panties.
Like I said, this is a fun romance. Slightly kinky, to be sure, but with plenty of good feels. I always enjoy K.C. Wells books and this one was no exception. There are more books in the Material World series and I hope they will make their way to audio shortly.
Seb Yarrick is now narrating many of Ms. Wells’ British books and I’m pleased. He is great to listen to and his performances always hit all the right notes. So, a great and fun book about friends to lovers.

A steamy Friends to lovers romance!
This was so very steamy and well written!
I loved the slow burn friends to lovers romance between Sean and Dave.
They were absolutely sweet together and I loved Seb Yarrick's narration.
It was beyond flawless and so very enjoyable.
This is definitely going to be a Re-listen for me!

Sexy best friends short
Sweet best friends story about gay Shawn who is in love with his straight best friend Dave, who is secretly bisexual. An accidental discovery of Shawn's secret lace stash pushes Dave to reveal his attraction to Shawn. Failures of communication cause drama, but the story is low angst and steamy. The drama occurs very quickly, but that can't be helped in a short story. If you like stories about boys in pretty panties, you'll enjoy this one.

Lovely!
Loved this audiobook from KC Wells! She is one of my favorite authors and I adore this sweet, low angst series. This was a lovely story with great characters and a strong plotline, something I have come to expect from KC. Seb Yareick does an awesome job narrating this one!

Sexy, Sweet and Short
Shawn has crushed on his straight friend Dave for years. Turns out Dave isn't. This friends to lovers, bi awakening with a bit of lace kink is wonderfully narrated. A great short-story that is worth the listen.

Shawn and Dave have been best friends since they were young. When Dave breaks up with his latest girlfriend Shawn’s world is turned upside down with Dave’s confession and when Dave finds Shawn’s kink the sparks ignite. The two burn up the sheets but soon Shawn needs more than just the fireworks between the two. Is he willing to risk what he has found, what he has wanted all this time or will Shawn let his doubts do that for him?
Shawn and Dave’s story is both sweet and hot. Both men are strong characters and are great together. You are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions with these two. I loved seeing the two friends find a way to fight for their happiness. The men learn that love may come easily but keeping it is always something worth fighting for. Narrator Seb Yarrick does a good job of bringing the characters to life and letting the listener feel their emotions.

Sexy listen!
Now this is a sexy listen. Shawn and Dave's story has been something I read a while ago. I absolutely love this friends to lovers story. So I was so happy that I get to listen to this story now. Seb Yarrick does such an amazing job with this narration. I just fall back in love with this story again. I can't to listen to the rest of this sexy series.

BFF’s to more short
I enjoyed this friends to lovers (with a side of mild kink) story, with one caveat. There just wasn’t any real character development, so I didn’t find much substance to the story. That’s fine for a low angst pleasure listen, but less fine if you’re looking for a bit more plot. This was my first time listening to anything with Seb Yarrick and I quite liked his performance.

Sexy Friends-to-Lovers Romance
Just as it says on the tin, 'Lace' is a kinky erotic romance featuring best friends Shawn and Dave. Shawn barely dares to hope for more than friendship when Dave comes out to him as bisexual. Both men skirt around the fact that they have feelings for one another, fearful of damaging their friendship. When Dave discovers Shawn's affinity for lacy undergarments, things start to heat up.
Both men struggle with insecurities. Dave is unsure of his attractiveness to men in general and Shawn specifically. Meanwhile, Shawn begins to think Dave is only into the kinky sex they have and not having Shawn as a boyfriend. In typical male fashion, they don't talk about their feelings and expectations, just assuming and making a mess of things. Finally, they find their words and it all ends happily. KC Wells gives readers a hot, sexy and cute story.
Seb Yarrick delivers a nice performance with narration. The voice acting with character dialogue is superb. He does a good job in distinguishing between the characters' internal thoughts and actual dialogue between characters.
'Lace' was given to me as a free review copy audiobook, at my request. These are my voluntary opinions about the book.

Great potential, not quite fulfilled
I love a friends to lovers-story, and I love kink. I also admire KC Wells A LOT, so I had great expectations for this book. I did enjoy it, but I was not as blown away as I had expected. The thing I question the most is, why wasn't Shawn's kink presented first thing? The book is called Lace, after all.
I still look forward to the next book from KC West with bated breath.
