So good!

I love this series of books and I’ve listened to them twice over. This one doesn’t disappoint! And what an ending. Will there be another one???

Good, but a superfluous addition to the saga...

I love the Orphan X series, but this entry just feels superfluous to the saga, especially after the main story narrative was pretty much wrapped up in the last one. It seems to miss the previous overarching antagonist and threat from previous entry’s. The returning narrator was flawless as always, but for the first time I noticed a mistake in the dialogue - “Your heart is racing 200 beats a second”? Not sure if that was an author or narrator mistake, but no big issue. Make no mistake, it was expertly written, fast paced and beautifully concluded in a perfectly sentimental way, but it doesn’t have the ‘big bad’ of the previous books and the author has had to make Evans main antagonistic force a ‘concussion’ to even it up a little. Good, but the weakest of the series.

Another great story

I was hoping there wouldn’t be an element of disappointment in a fifth Orphan X story. Could the same level of entertainment be reached as the previous books? Well, yes it could and yes it was. Another edge of seat thrilling ride.

Relentlessly enthralling outing for Orphan X

I am not sure what caused my delay in reading this fifth episode of the Orphan X series but it was distinct lack of judgement on my part. 'Into the Fire' is a seriously good thriller in the "disavowed clandestine operator doing good deeds while staying anonymous " genre. Orphan X is Victor the Assassin with a heart. In this episode X embarks on his quest to aid troubled Max in his efforts to escape death, only to encounter layer upon layer of conspiracy and more and more unsavoury characters out to do them harm. Meanwhile alongside concussion, X is acquiring the capacity to care deeply about a number of people in his life. I will now go in search of the next book ..and audiobook! Fans of Tom Wood, Mark Dawson, David Baldacci, Alan McDermott et al will enjoy the Orphan X series.
Whoops -just realised I missed out the fourth book in the series - not that it mattered, it seems, enjoyment or, apparently, continuity wise; back to read 'Out of the dark' before onwards to 'Prodigal son' !!

totally immersing.

the combination of a first class tale with the voice of Scott Brick is the equivalent of a verbal page turner - i couldn't switch this off - beware :)
