Graphic but interesting
This book is very graphic in places but interesting all the same. Taking you from Victorian times to present day with some of the many characters to have been there.

easy listening
the book was extremely interesting, the narrator did a good job, gave me an insight into how it really was and not what we had been allowed to belive behind the closed doors of Broadmoor

Insightful and gripping
Whether you agree with the modern way of management of secure mental prisoners, this is a brilliant listen
Insightful into the history, the people and the development of an infamous British institution
Well written and good narration although fairly monotone if hyper critical
One of the few books recently I couldn’t wait to fire up again

Interesting history of Broadmoor
This audiobook is only 5 1/2 hours long so not an in depth history but certainly a very interesting one that goes beyond the stories heard in the tabloids about this place. It of course deal with the most famous inmates (shown on the cover) and also Jimmy Saville's numerous visits but also goes into more detail about day to day life for the patients there.
One minor issue is with the narrator's voice. It's a very good performance but the way his accent sounds on the end of some words constantly brings to mind the character Garth Marenghi so keep getting distracted picturing him doing the recording.

Incorrect Information
Although I enjoyed this book it's factually wrong.Maxine Carr was not convicted of the murders of the two little girls along with Ian Huntley. better get this sorted or legal papers will be heading in your direction.

Made me think !
This was a very interesting look at life in the High Security estate. As an employee of HMP I found that it made me think differently about people being unaware of the crimes they commit. How do we deal with that ?
