Summary

Soon to be a TV series starring Chris Pratt.

A woman boards a plane in Burkina Faso having just completed a targeted assassination for the state of Israel. Two minutes after take-off, her plane is blown out of the sky.

Six thousand miles to the east, James Reece watches the names and pictures of the victims cross cable news. One face triggers a distant memory of a Mossad operative attached to the CIA years earlier in Iraq, a woman with ties to the intelligence services of two nations, a woman Reece thought he would never see again....

In a global pursuit spanning four continents, James Reece will enlist the help of friends new and old to track down her killer and walk right into a trap set by a master sniper, a sniper who has enlisted help of his own....

The fifth in the best-selling James Reece series, from former Navy SEAL Jack Carr. If you loved Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Peter James's Roy Grace or Michael Connelly's Mickey Haller, you will love James Reece!

Critic reviews

"A propulsive and compulsive series. Jack Carr’s James Reece is the kind of guy you’d want to have in your corner. A suspenseful and exhilarating thrill-ride. Jack Carr is the real deal." (Andy McNab)

"This is seriously good...the suspense is unrelenting, and the tradecraft is so authentic the government will probably ban it – so read it while you can!" (Lee Child)

"With a particular line in authentic tradecraft, this fabulously unrelenting thrill-ride was a struggle to put down." (Mark Dawson)

He's done it again!

Yet another gripping tale of James Reece, loved listening to this one. Although I wish the sniper duel section had maybe played out longer, none the less still a great part of the story. Thanks Jack!

Very enjoyable but not James Reece’s best outing.

Story was engaging and as usually Carr brings an incredible amount of detail to the story which only adds to the intrigue.

However, the end chapters didn’t quite conclude as I would have liked but I guess you can’t kill a cash cow.

Good but

story barrels along and the combat scenes are great real pace and gritty. more of the authors politics showing in this book, not always a bad thing but very alien when you, luckily live in a country with no gun culture and so very different to the USA .
like Andy McNab's Nick Stone, there will be no peace for James Reese .

engrossing

you think James Reece is vulnerable, think again, one of those you won't put down...got to wait now for his next chapter.. well read again by Ray Porter.

Just buy a DJ slauter book

I love Jack Carr but this book is disappointing in so many levels.
Story is predictable and seems like a mash of all thriller books

word crit

Well read, except for some two errors.
Salisbury = s-alls-berry
Selous = sel-oo
Having an uncle in the Selous Scouts and born in Salisbury I can confirm the pronunciations.

Retribution & Revenge

A brilliantly researched & written thriller. Totally engaging from beginning to end. Filled with “whispers of truth” and violence of action. Technically detailed & historically encompassing. An outstanding 5 star + story. A definite must listen to or read.
